unlocking driver door sometimes fails
I love my XJ, although I don't drive it often in winter time.
When unlocking my XJ by the fob, the driver door sometimes doesn't unlock.
I have to use the key to unlock.
Some oil attached to the visible, moving parts didn't help.
Is there a way to diagnose this issue further without disassembling the whole door ?

It sounds like a problem with the micro switch in the actuator.
I have had this problem and was able to replace the micro switch but in your
case the best repair might be to replace the actuator.
I repaired a rear door also I had a problem with the driver's door but that went away
believe it or not!
The actuator is stamped FORD and an used Ford actuator will fit but you have to get
the right one ie ex Ford Mondeo.
I suggest you search this forum for details and pics (I use google) eg
