Updated 2011-2012 DVD Nav Disk
I have a 2007 Jaguar XJ Super V8. I had the old Nav DVD disk 2004-2007 edition. I decided to upgrade to the 2011-12 version so it will have the new street addresses that were not on the old version.
I just tried to install the upgraded DVD today. I followed instruction in the owner's manual....to put the key into the"I" position and insert new disk. The nav dvd unit in the trunk accepted it right away and the screen stated "reading disk" and it did it so fast like less than 10 seconds and the map came up. It works fine EXCEPT it won't accept a new address at all. When I press the New Address button, it just beeps but doesn't go anywhere. The system will navigate using previous addresses I had on there that were inputted when I had the older version of the dvd. Why is not going beyond Enter Address??? Do I have to disconnect the battery to reset the DVD GPS or press and hold simulataneously a couple of buttons to reset it so it will upload the upgrade?
When I first installed the older version a year ago (I bought the car used by the way), the DVD took a while to be read by the system, like I think 20 minutes compared to the upgraded 2011-12, it just took it within seconds and it wasn't saying it was downloading the upgrade or anything like that. Please help anyone! Thank you very much.

When I bought and installed the updated disk (EU_2011-2012) for my 2004 X350, it also loaded very quickly like for you.
The system lost all the previous addresses, but fortunately, it is actually updated, e.g. showing the new highways, and it accepts loading new destinations.
Maybe you should try reloading it.

Updated disk
Thank you for your input. I did reinstall it. In fact. I took the disk out many times and reloaded it again and again to no avail. You're lucky yours took the update very easily and quickly. It should be the same as mine because we have the same car. The new update brings up the map and it will navigate to formerly stored previous addresses from my old DVD nav but I just can not enter an address. It brings up this "next" field for me to choose the map (in my case US2) and it takes it and then I hit next and I'm back to square one. I still can't enter the address. I pressed restore to factory default and that doesn't help either. Do you think disconnecting the battery would remove the old software? Because in a computer, if you disconnect the power, the software is still there even after you plug it back in.

I ran an install on my x350 that seemed to load ok only to have the same issue as you philc. It turned out that I had the wrong version of the software, I went out and purchased the correct one from the Jag dealer which loaded first time and worked ok. So, it may simply be that you have the wrong version.

Thanks Beavis, I will check with navteq where I bought the disk from if I have the wrong disk. I ordered it directly from their website with their dropdown boxes which lead me directly to the XJ model....maybe a Super V8 has a different type of map than a regular XJ? I'll call them tomorrow.

Apparently the 2006 XJ I bought still has the original DVD. However, I cheated and I use Waze from my iPhone in conjunction with the car navigation system. What Waze offers is fairly up-to-date traffic conditions, a speedometer that runs off gps data, accident and cop reports. I got Waze as a free app from the App Store.
