Default upper ball joints

i have a 04 xj8. I have a bad upper ball joint, and wondering if anyone has ever replaced the ball joint instead of replacing the control arm? If you have, the part number for the upper ball joint would be great.
thanks

The ones my 04 xjr are totally shot along with every other bushing or rubber peice on the car. I ordered control arms from ebay. To my understanding the jaguar control arms and a couple other parts are interchangable with Ford Thunderbird and Lincoln LS. They appear to be identical but i havent had time to install them yet. They were less than half the price of the identical parts listed as 'jaguar' sold on ebay by the same company.

I have also seen them on Amazon for approx 179.00. I did see them on eBay too. I also have others that need to be replaced. The control are I seen for the xj8 could be compatible with the Lincoln LS but don't quote me on that. Let us know how you make out with yours

You could consider used parts.

These days breakers will guarantee the quality of used parts.

I am pretty sure that the wishbones are the same as the s type and are cheaper.

Have a look on e bay uk too.

The front lower are unique. The uppers and rear lower are the same Lemforder parts. One of my rear lower arms was cast with Jaguar name. Got it from an online Ford dealer in Florida.
This was about a year ago, the upper arms were 118-125 dollars on eBay from a Ford dealer.
Pulled the wheels this last weekend to flush the brakes. It was nice to see shiny rubber boots instead of the crumbling originals.

Default So, how is the xj8/r different?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V929STW..._Qt65wbYDEK3NE
$118 vs $180 each for XJ8

I have seen many forum posts that the upper suspension arms are the same for the S type, XJ, XF and even the lincoln LS and thunderbird, and also seems many suppliers agree, except for the xj8/r.

Is it confirmed that these would fit an 05 XJR? Mine has done 170k miles, mostly lots of highway, but now have low speed clunks. Have done the banana arms, sway bushes and links and shocks and shock bushes. These upper ball joints now have some play.
Would be nice to be able to save some money, if they fit in form and function.

I have upper front arms for a Ford T-Bird on my 2006 XJR. Perfect fit. Jaguar was owned by Ford during that period.
