US Interest in the XJ6 TDVI

I've been toying with this idea since watching Top Gear do a special on first the S-type around the Nurbergring then the fuel economy run from Switzerland to Blackpool on a single tank. While I loved the power of the XJR I test drove, the mpg of that diesel is pretty staggering as well. I have enough connections to probably arrange for US emissions testing of engine and car combo and best I can tell the Euro Spec and North American Spec XJ's are pretty much the same (headlights and the metric cluster are the only things that concern me) to keep the DOT happy.
At around $1500 for the testing it's not cheap and we'd have to prove that any other year XJ6 TDVI is functionally identical to import other than the tested year.
How many others would be interested in importing one if it were legal?

Hope you get it sorted...its a fantastic car!
In my last car a 3.0 X Type I had to fill the tank at least 6 times on a weeks trip to and around France (staying around 500 miles from the ferry) and back to the NE of the UK which is around 300 miles from the ferry. The XJ TDVi had to be filled twice if I remember.

Many of the cars need to be de-tuned. Swiss have different Xenons than USA, along with the certificates of further testing on identical cars. Basically, the guy who does it (there are two in CH) has us by the *****. We could pay for testing and then make the changes as needed, or go to someone who has done it already, can make the changes, and get CH plates on it in two days. Right now, the latter solution is better for us.
Swiss market is big on gas cars compared to rest of Europe and currency is in USA favor for exports.
As for the Emissions reports, we are not caring about them as the Homologator will tune the car as need be. You should be able to get the test done by someone there.
