Default Various warning lights

Last week had ABS warning come up, followed by Cruise control and DSC not available, next day had check engine light come on.
looked on forum for common causes, as I find it strange for all these to come on at same time, keep reading about low battery voltage.
my son checked battery and it was reading 12.21 with engine off and 14.7 while running.
from what I’ve read it should be at least 12.60 at least, so...had new battery fitted...soon as I pulled away from the garage..car started running funny, lose of power and gearbox fault showed up...
called my local independent for advice, (they can’t get the car in until Saturday)...but said it’s possible the car needs to be told the battery has been replaced and all is well ?.
note, I had the fault codes cleared at same time as battery change....but they came back on more or less strait away.
the gearbox oil was done and new sump/filter fitted less than 1500 miles ago, no leaks at all..
does this all sound like the car just needs telling all is fine

Have replaced the battery's in both of mine, without those sort issues.
Unless the battery set up is different there, than over here, their full of crap.
Find another place to fix your Jaguar, or better yet learn to fix it yourself.

I have to point out that the battery was fitted by a garage that only supplies batteries, the garage next door cleared the fault codes for me while balancing the front wheels, the independent hasn’t had the car yet to tell me where the problem lies...the receptionist just said the computer may need to be told the battery has been changed...no jag technician has touched it so far regarding this issue.
I'm just baffled as to why it started running sluggish on pull away and gearbox fault showed up as soon as I pulled away after battery change...the car was driving superb until battery change.

Disconnect the battery and give it a full charge. When the battery is disconnected from the car, take the positive and negative leads and touch them together for a count of ten. This has the effect of discharging the capacitors within the various modules and resetting them.
When the battery is fully charged, reconnect it, reset the windows and any memory functions and then try again.

Largely irrelevant, rarely will a new battery be fully charged when fitted, no matter who supplied it.

What ive said said above will cost you nothing but a little time. Your car, your choice.

Tried the disconnect battery and touch leads, still the same, but you were correct about voltage, it’s only showing 12.51, so a good charge is probably needed

Possible bad connections to earths (grounds) located behind headlights.

A common fault.

Just watched a video on YouTube regarding these earth leads, guy was getting same fault codes as I’m getting, also his headlights would flick off when driving, this has happened to my car a few times..but thought nothing of it....
what am I looking for on these leads ?, I’ve had a quick look, but it’s dark and I’m using a torch...they look ok, not corroded, not lose..fingers were dirty after feeling them

Unfortunately you won’t see anything untoward from the outside, these earth studs corrode from the inside out. There is one stud behind each headlight. Have a look at this thread at post 259 and 269 for more info.

Be prepared for them falling off if you show them a spanner.

As others have said, these errors usually appear with a ground (earth) stud problem and they usually show very little signs of corrosion until you get the nuts off. Usually when you undo the nuts they snap. I had this problem on my car and got lots of errors from ABS fault, DSC not available, wipers creeping and engine stalling, indicator random failure and headlight bulbs blowing regularly. I replaced all my ground points at the front of the car and that has fixed all the problems.

There are actually two studs behind one of the headlights (drivers side on UK cars, passenger side on US cars) and there is one stud behind the other headlight on the other side.

Thanks,

Chris

Ok, this is where we stand at present, took the three earth leads off behind headlights, all in perfect order, nuts came off smoothly, not a single sign of corrosion or any sort of residue, like the day they were fitted...but gave all leads and posts a clean anyway and refitted everything...so that has eliminated them as a cause,
car is going into independent jag dealer in morning....

Have you looked for fault codes
I had the problems you describe and it was a failed abs sensor on the right rear wheel.
I thought it was possibly low battery voltage, but battery was fine and I had already dealt with the earth studs behind the headlights
Took two minutes to change it.
If its this it will give you a code on the abs module, easily checked.

Great

If the front one is anything like the rear you can fit it yourself in a matter of minutes
Have a look online and see how much for a new genuine jag one, 145 sterling seems like a lot.
I used a second hand one that I got for 20 quid and have had no problems since
If you're after the part number for online searching try the sng website, all you need is your vin to get the right part number;

Should you require front hub with the wheel bearing assembly, a new one is included.
Have a couple hanging on the compressor, as the old ones still work fine, as were the bearings.
But with over a hundred thousand miles on them, and $75 for a new set.
Cheap preventive maintenance, was performed.

Ok chaps, got the car back yesterday, I didn’t go with the independent jag specialist in the end, just used my local garage that I know and trust, they plugged their reader into the OBD thing and found the root of the problem to be n/s rear speed/abs sensor, they changed it and the car is back to how it should be, wish I had done this strait from the off, I didn’t need a battery..there was nothing wrong with my one..but the battery shop were very happy to sell me a new one and (dispose) my old one...
lesson learned...get the damn codes read by someone that knows what they are doing lol

I got a duff speed sensor on my X358 that I used to have. Fortunately I had invested in an iCarsoft i930 code reader with the Jaguar codes, and it flagged it up straightaway. On my previous X350 I had one go on the rear. They don't seem to last long for something that has no moving parts ! One can buy the genuine Jaguar article, or an aftermarket one at about 1/2 the price. Whilst I had the defective one out, I checked the reluctor ring for dirt but it was OK, almost perfect.

So, after reading this thread, an ABS sensor was the cause for all of the various faults? I'll continue my reading and start with the grounds and a reset after a recent battery replacement on mine (Battery was junk after sitting even with the tender&#128557 If my multiple faults/issues aren't solved by some of the simple stuff, I'll get the codes read and start a thread. I know from my TDI days that the grounds can be temperamental.
