Default Vehicle too low message

For the past two mornings the front of my car was sitting very low and the message was displayed, when I turn the car on it raises to normal height. I'm assuming it's a leak, what are the steps to troubleshoot this ? Just checked it again, It's the front left and right side and It lowered 5 minutes after I turned off the ignition. I just noticed other similar posts but I find it odd how both sides are lowering at the same rate and the back is fine.

My car does this all the time and has since it was new. Never received any error messages as it always rises to proper height as soon as the car is started. When I turn off the car, within a minute or so, I hear a hissing sound and the car lowers back down. I assume this is normal.

The car may have lowered a bit before but not this much, there is about a one inch clearance. I may take it in and utilize my warranty.

Here is info.

The suspension uses a bunch of sensors but you should be able to find a leak if you can hear it.

I found this post as well: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...on-leak-38401/ I'm going to have to borrow a friend's hoist, the t-connector is in a tight spot.

Well I made a call to the warranty company and they said electrical issues or the air compressor will be covered but not the springs. I called their preferred shop and the owner said it could be a module but I obviously need to bring it in. I'm going to make an appointment for the end of the week, I will let everyone know what the problem was. I'm driving my Crown Vic in the meantime, at least everyone moves out of my way on the trip to work

I forgot to mention he said it could be an air bag leak, does that mean the air shock? It's the first air ride car I have had, excuse my ignorance
I just changes a spring in the Crown Vic, it isn't my week and I'm assuming this will cost much more

They are NOT AIRBAGS!!!!!!!! Jaguar considers them AIRSPRINGS!!!!!

We were admonished in the NP04 (New Product 2004) training classes to call them what they are!!

Sorry but they were adamant about this description.

I think airbags are what your face hits when you wreck your car!!!!

Thanks for the reply, I see what you mean that it's all in the wording. I did work for Walmart when they first came to Canada, I made a reference to their "security guards" and their "head office". I was told they were "lost prevention agents (greeters)" and "home office". I agree that air bags are what smack you in the the face, I was just wishfully thinking that a bag of air would be cheaper then replacing the air springs

I determined with your help that the problem is the passenger side airspring which is leaking, I'm ordering a couple from Arnott and I just wanted to make sure that the XJ ones would be the same as the Vanden Plas which I assuming are the same. JAGUAR Air Suspension Parts - XJ Series 2004-2010 XJ Series
Jaguar wants $1500 a spring and I don't want to fork out that kind of money right now.

Maybe the car thinks it's a big Citroen?

On a scale of one to ten do you think changing the air springs are a fairly easy job or would I be best to pay a mechanic to do it?

Big Citroens with their famous hydro-pneumatic-hydraulic suspension were notorious for sinking during the night so that it was quite a stoop to get in first thing. Of course, when the engine was started, you did feel you were going up in the world...
Oh the ignominy of having to explain a gag....

Sorry for having you explain, you learn something new everyday
When the leak was small it was kind of cool to feel the car lift. Now that it doesn't lift anymore it isn't cool at all

The sad thing is I knew that and I've never once physically seen a Citroen.

I had no idea that XJs did that though. That's pretty cool.

The big Citroens had other features: there was a small lever between the front seats which you could use to either raise the suspension for going across a plowed field etc. and making jacking a matter of a very few strokes with the jack, or to lower the suspension, even collapse it, making it well nigh impossible for any avaricious person to fit a wheel clamp. In 1955, the DS had headlights which would track round a sharp bend in the road, making it possible almost to see round corners in the dark. The DS is pronounced "Day-Ess" which in french means Goddess. The whole styling of this car was decades ahead of its time, looking like a 1990s design.
Innovative these Frenchies, or what?
Leedsman.

LOL Leedsman

Living where I do I have owned a few of these lemons in my time, the last being an XM. You could literally put the thing on the ground when parked with about 7mm clearance or set it to max height and have a wheel off W/O the jack (not recommended).

Back to PaulB I could be wrong but I seem to remember Brutal posted about an airspring repair method a while back using green slime IIRC.

(cup of tea later)

Here you go.... Green Slime airspring repairs.
