Default One happy X350 owner.

Yes, at last!

After 9 years of coveting the X350 I finally have one. I used to drive my old red X308 to my Jaguar showroom, spend ages sitting in the then 'current versions' & even taking a couple of X350's out on a test drive. I must apologise now to the various busy salesmen, as I had no funds to buy one at the time.

Anyhow, it's in Pacific blue - 4.2 V8 - 2004 - with only 24,000 miles on the clock.

A 2004 with only 24,000 miles? That's incredible - it's barely been driven. I bought mine with 54,000 miles 2 1/2 years ago and thought that was low miles for an 8 year old car.

Should be good for another 110K at least. My '04 just rolled to 135K yesterday! Congratulations!

Yes, these cars will run the Marathon, but certain things seem age related, not miles, so be prepared for a few things needing doing at some point.

Yes, I think you are right Fraser, the rear parking sensors have already packed in. The key fob does not open one of the rear doors, so I have to open the front door and reach through. Plus, there are some kirbing marks to sort out on the front wheels...

However, instead of addressing any of these problems, I have spent all my time ordering some (as new) Jaguar lambswool rugs of ebay for £95. It's good to see that I have my priorities sorted.

+ Cheers esloser & cjp

By the way, I have a red (1998 X308 140,000 miles) in Middlesex/London, going cheap if anyone is interested? (In the background of this pic).

Nice...congrats on a beautiful ride.

Shame you weren't a little closer......https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...y-tour-111085/

Having said that, have you seen this?..... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...ighton-107585/

Could be just the ticket to meet fellow owners, give her a run and show her off a little?

Cheers

Jim

Thanks boxxman.

Just checking, is it OK to use a car wash with these cars (aluminium)?

At an average of 2400 miles per year, I was half expecting to hear of electrical gremlins.

Across all the later model tech sections, members who use their vehicles as daily drivers report far less issue of this nature than those doing very low mileages.

It is OK, but I always go to a hand-wash, as it is not much more than a machine, and I get the interior vac'd out too for not much money.

Hand wash is always best. Use a chamois for washing and another one for drying. They keep your paint looking nice.

Well done, I am fan of low mileage buys.

I have repaired parking sensors and door locks for minimum cost so post details on this forum if you need chapter and verse.

Default Lambswool rugs - Mmmmmmm

Just received my new S type lambswool rugs from ebay (£95). They fit really well in my x350 apart from 1 inch near the seat runner rail - will trim to fit or something.

Hi Jenkins,
Congrats also for your nice car.
I also purchased a 2004 4.2 V8 on last June, first owner and only 43.000 km on the clock at that time. I know that these cars should better be driven and I was concerned of possible issues but didn't hesitate because the car looked to be in exceptional condition.
I was also very lucky, the car had been owned by a wealthy person who kept it in a heated garage and drove it regularly only when weather was nice.
50.000 km today and runs great. Only issues appearing for a few months were a strange fob not opening driver's door and a passenger's mirror leaning too much when starting but both issues disappeared, maybe a wrong maneuver from myself with the driver's memory settings.
Hope you have luck and fun.
Serge

I spent the day spraying/painting the boot of my red x308 - xj8. It's a lot harder then it says on the tin. Nice paint coverage but not very shiny? I've put a few lacquer coats on with a spray can, but has only created a soft sheen. Are you supposed to T cut Lacquer?

Oh well, I guess it looks better then when I started.
