Default VIN SV8 Portfolio 2006

I just checked my VIN following discussion on a related thread, willing to see how it was decoded.
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...tfolio-155741/

My VIN has more than 17 characters, as it finishes with (01):
SAJAA86G36TG50568(01).
The decoder works only if I don't enter (01).

The (01) suffix however seems to be integral part of the VIN as it is reported in the registration certificate.

Do other owners of that car model have a similar VIN?

The VIN is 17 characters and the (01) suffix does not form part of it.

Belgium introduced the Car-Pass system in December 2006 to help combat odometer fraud and I understand this document is required in addition to the registration certificate. Could the (01) suffix be related to this?

Graham

Thanks Graham, spot on!

I checked how was the VIN on the registration certificate of the previous (Dutch) owner.
It only contains the 17 characters.
So that (01) suffix is just a Belgian trick...

Thank you for that very useful info.
Very surprised to get that much from a Ford facility.
I had it already from my Jag dealer who extracted similar infos from Topix but I did not think that you could get it from Ford!

It's odd but handy that they kept the data from when they owned Jaguar and still look it up. Hooray for Ford.
