Weak driver's side heat / heater core / now what?
Greetings,
About a year ago, I had the "no driver's side heat" issue and had the heater core replaced. It worked remarkably for about 2 weeks; I could practically light a match by holding it in front of the vent.
Unfortunately after about 2 weeks, the problem returned. Frankly I was so disappointed with it that I didn't even attempt it any longer. But I'd really like to put this problem to bed (as would probably a thousand other people.)
Is it possible that the new core is clogged? I wouldn't think so, but I don't know.
The mechanic "said" that he initially checked the blend doors and they worked fine (he didn't think the problem would be the heater core), so I'm thinking it's not that. Be advised that I've had some doubts about the mechanic's ability though.
How do I whip this problem once and for all? Many thanks.

Lot's of threads on this topic. I had the identical problem and I fixed it by replacing the electrically operated auxiliary water pump. It sits on the fan cowl on the right hand side of the engine right below the upper radiator hose.
The other major culprit stated in multiple threads is gel formed in the innards of the heater core rendering the heater core inoperable and in need of replacement.

If it's still just the driver's side, yes, it is once again a clogged core. Now, the question is, why?
I postulated a couple of weeks back that my core seemed to be clogged with shards of rubber, and thought the inside of the hoses might be chaffing. Any chance you replaced one or more hose after replacing the core?
Still thinking outside the box.
