Default What are the Best Rotors and Pads 2008 XJ8L

Hi

I am new to the Forum. I had a 2004 XJ8 for 6 weeks and some guy rear-ended me and totaled it. But i was hooked. I love everything about it. i went out and got a 2008 XJ8 L. It needs new brake pads. I am going to start from scratch and just get new rotors and pads. I have search and can not find were there are some plane and simple names and part numbers i can research. I drive it pretty fast and i want to reduce the Dust and get the most bang for my bucks. if the Jag dealers are the best so be it. if not what kind? From my searching the forum i have learned slotted are not the way to go. and there are a few hints here and there. But i would like to hear what has worked for 2008 owners. I appreciate any help i can get. i was just told i was at 90% on my rear brakes. So i figure i am really at 70%. so i am under a little time crunch.

thanks

It will answer a lot of your questions. I would recommend ceramic pads and the Centric rotors I listed. I have had low dust, no squeaks or rattles.

I have genuine Jaguar OEM pads front and rear, and have never had any trouble, as you would expect, but they do produce a lot of dust thus making wheel cleaning a regular chore. I don't know the front disc origin, but the rears are Jaguar OEM and with painted centres so they look good through the wheels, and again, no trouble at all.

Of course there are a variety of pads and discs out there, and one doesn't have to use OEM at all, just make sure the supplier is well rated and reputable. There are aftermarket low dust pads, and I may try a set next time. Make sure you check disc thickness at pad change time as there is a minimum thickness, and if it is on or below this the discs need changing
