Default What Diagnostic unit?

I just completed a rebuild of the front suspension. Now the car sits higher (I think) than it should and the ride is quite harsh. I know it's a sport suspension but it wasn't this stiff before the job. I'm guessing the ride height needs to be calibrated.

What diagnostic system is the best for a 2006 x350? I'm running Windows 10 and it can emulate, so it says, Win 7 and XP.

Thanks

The least expensive would be the JLR SDD software from say British diagnostics with a genuine Mongoose cable.

That is what I have used to adjust the suspension on my 2005 XJR.

Problem is some of the software versions require "freezing" of the computer otherwise there is a time limit of something like 14 days after which the software will not function.

The other issue is the fact that quite a few people have had problems with the mongoose cable especially if it is a clone.

With a routine like leveling/ adjusting the ride height I do not think you will have a serious problem if there is a failure. Not like flashing an ECU etc.

Leveling/adjusting the height is a somewhat painstaking task.

You will definitely need a battery support system because of the length of time for this procedure.

Adjusting the height may not make any difference to your harsh ride tho.

Sent you a PM on Autoenginuity. I think other than OEM and the cloned (Mongoose/ Mangoose), those are your only options.

Full disclosure, I have my AE up for sale, but have been on record about the Mongoose clone and the Mangoose clone for years. Too many issues for guys who buy them.

Those who foot the bill for the Mongoose Pro seem to fare a bit better.

Whatever to decide, good luck with the fix.

Hard ride could be CATS stuck in hard mode.

Rebooting car may solve it-remove battery leads and touch together for a couple of mins.

You will need radio code and reset windows etc.

No radio codes needed in the U.S. as far as I know.

If you get the "real" Mongoose cable (add another digit to the clone price) you will have absolutely no issues. I use it with IDS/SDD v. 131. I also have AutoEnginuity.

If you have done lower and upper control arms, you should have to put the full weight of the car on the wheels before torquing down the control arm bolts to avoid height issues and unnecessary stress on the bushings which will eventually tear

I use a Midtronics Power Supply 12 Volt Automotive Battery Charger Maintainer PSC 550 when doing any lengthy procedure on the Jag and RR. It is not cheap.

Just did an ECU tune from Velocity Ap on my RR and had the PSC 550 hooked up the whole time.

I've been looking at British Diagnostics but am a bit wary of the price. Can I presume they are supplying a cloned cable? Has anyone used their kit satisfactorily?

The software should be fine however the cable is probably a clone.

I bought my Mongoose/Mangoose cable on sale from Drew Technologies for way less than they advertise now.

The original clone cable that I had from Brit Diag lasted a year only. So with the price of almost $600 for a genuine Mongoose cable maybe not the least expensive?

Thanks for all the help. I've decided to get the v130 package from British Diagnostics. I know it's the Chinese cable but they offer a one year warranty and the package is over 4 times less than a non-cloned cable. So I'll chance it.

Cheers all

Someone just scored a deal on eBay today - $500 for a genuine VCM and VMM with all associated cables...
