Fitted a near left side rear parking sensor, now all the parking aid sensors work and I do not have to listen to that 3 second beep when I put in in reverse...wonderful.
Fitted a set of 17" Elegant wheels to replace my 19" Polaris. I found the ride rather too harsh, and the worst bit is the vulnerability to kerbing. Hell, you've only to look at the kerb whilst parking and a wheel is kerbed. With the new wheels, the tyres are "fatter" therefore the tyre contacts the kerb well before the rim. The wheels are quite a few years old, yet virtually unmarked. Ride now is much more compliant. Tomorrow I will have the two front tyres replaced as one is a 2003 Pirelli P6000 and the other a 2007 Kumho Solus. Rears are 2016 Kumho Ecowings with a lot of tread left, so I'm going to run these for a while.
I vacuumed trunk and interior, then drove it. We got this 04 XJR 3 weeks ago....
dang thing is FAST and I love it, even though I know it will be a bit fickle. Glad this forum exists as it is where I have found all the answers for our X type.
Today, I changed the oil and filter. I also flushed the coolant by draining, and refilling with distilled water 5 times. Last refill was with straight Dex-Cool to achieve the correct mix. fairly easy job, but time consuming what with waiting for it to come up to operating temp and then cool back down 5 times.

So today, a pair of Toyo Proxes was fitted. They seem OK so far and cost me around £200 for the pair. I am now very happy with the ride and hope to keep the car for many years yet.
Hi xj8jr sounded like a noisy bearing but the noise went after a minute and only done it when it was cold sometimes it never made a noise at all, initially I thought it might be the supercharger as the noise seem to be in that area so i left the car over night then I drained the cooling system and removed the header tank and the supercharger belt and started it up noise was still there,so I removed the aux belt and spun all the pulleys to make sure all were good and the only slightly noise one was the water pump if I turned it slowly you could feel the roughness in the bearing so I replaced it and all is quite again.
