Got my 20" BBS wheel back today from the welding shop, another small crack on the inside lip, slow leak. All repaired and back on the road again. Third repair like this, different wheel, you could feel where it had obviously had an impact. They are a pain with the 35 series tires but, I love the look.

The aluminium in these cars is amazingly strong, about 9 years ago I ran up the back of a Peugeot estate, my floor over rug had not been refitted by the valeters properly and slipped forward, when I floored the throttle to pull out across a large road to get to the outer lane n order to make a right turn the pedal stuck down , it was caught under the mat, I ran in the rear of him and look at the damage to his car, it even creased the roof.
Look at the damage to mine !
Hindsight is wonderful but in the couple of seconds I did not think to knock the gear lever into neutral.

Confirmed that I have a leaking air strut (driver front) that leaks from the top in cold weather (in the 25-30 deg F range). Bad enough you can hear and feel it leak from the top of the strut when the compressor is running. Appears not to leak when it warms up to 45-50 deg F later in the day. Currently, researching the forum to help make the decision to either replace the front air struts (Bilstein, Arnott, A1Cardone, RMT, SKP) or do the coil-over conversion (Strutmasters, Arnott).
I do like the air suspension system when it is working properly, but I have grown wary of troubleshooting the flakey behavior over the past 2 years:
1. Intermittent B1471 code (Headlamp - Open Circuit / Short to ground) - checked the wiring and performed the various workshop manual tests without finding a problem
2. Automatically lowering itself too low when parked on an inclined driveway for several days (Not an issue when park on a level surface for several days)

Im not
I put arnotts in the front some time ago as B3 Sports were in short supply.
I latter acquired a full set of B3 sports
As the rear had filed I have put the new B3's in the back and I will replace the front arnotts with B3's as soon as my lift's are installed in the new year
Also I have repaired the filed B3's removed earlier and have them as spares
Cheers

Washed, clayed and polished over the weekend. My first time using a rotary buffer went very well, but I didn't have enough time to really get into it and get the paint as perfect as I'd like, so I'm planning to address each panel one by one until the entire gigantic car is done.
Also ordered a touch-up paint kit to address the ugly spots.
Oh yeah, and I also did a partial power steering fluid exchange. Will do another exchange next week.

Ordered Delphi front tie rod ends, Moog rear tie rods, with an off brand name, 10 year warranty, rear sway bar drop link set. Will need an alignment after installed, as always it will be off a bit, and easy to feel when driving the first time after installed. With a new steel transmission pan, fluid, & filter conversion, i hope to be done for a while, buying parts for the new to me 07 V P.
