You lucky one. I got my AC regassed 2 weeks ago and the result is that this seems to have been not the only problem, still an oven, maybe 1.5 deg less hot
But the last days at least weather played in my favor

Thank you. I purchased the wipers from the link you provided and was an easy fix. It took 5 mins to install them. Old ones took more time to be removed.

In amongst sorting tubes out for people I've been messing around with carbon fibre skinning where original parts can be covered on real carbon fibre. Covered the front plastic panel and also covered the engine cover too.

 

I took my engine cover off. I hope that the top of the engine stays cooler and that the plastic bits will get brittle at a slower rate.

 

Got XPEL Prime XR ceramic window film fitted to windshield and other windows. Significantly cooler car especially when running. Dash board remains cool. Unexpected benefit the windshield film cuts down glare significantly. I now longer have to wear sunglasses.

 

The cover acts as an insulator against the under bonnet temps so is best left on unless you have a vented bonnet.

 

Quite a bit of discussion in this forum about this.

Some believe that when the car is stationary on asphalt for example the under hood temps will build quite a bit and in that situation the cover works to keep inter-coolers cooler.

However at cruising speeds some would argue the opposite is true since it tends to prevent cooler air travelling thru the engine compartment from cooling off the inter coolers.

 

That might be true if the engine compartment were not "sealed" but if you look on the bonnet you will see a sealing strip that effectively reduces the air flow over the top of the engine so I would say they put this piece on to keep the water flow within the coolers as cold as it could be ( obviously room for improvement in this area in terms of how cool that fluid can be) and isolate the coolers from the underbonnet temps, I for one will be leaving this in place.

 

I changed my Coolant expansion tank & thermostat; my car started overheating; I noticed the nipple on the tank was broke, so I'm not certain if that was the cause of the prob, but I figured I'd change out the thermostat anyway. (Cap & sensor came with tank, & both were bad on old tank)

 

This is very difficult as I know you guys won't believe me.
I am going on a 2-day road trip (she's not my daily driver) and spent Quality Time stacking the CD Stacker, plus the front one makes 7.
My car has no known faults at present.. If you don't hear from me again.......

 

Changed front shock bushings as had a rattle from the front, still there after changing drop links and arb bushings
Both rusted in
Had to take out the whole shebang, press and heat to get them out.
Now it drives great and liking it even more
With each little bit of work this car feels better and better to drive. Completely different than when I bought it last year

 

Black grill surround with mesh inserts

Changed the original chrome grill with uprights to a matching black surround and mesh inserts.

replaced chrome surround rear lamps with black ones.

 

After an intermittent steering wobble, esp. on the highway had the wheels balanced and tires rotated.
Much better, no more shimmy and steering feel better.

 

I had that but turned out to be outer tie rod ends had play in them. After replacement soooo much better.

 

Took rear seats out ready for a loaded 450 mile trip up north.

Have done this several times however this time it was different. For whatever reason the last time I put in the rear back seat it failed to fully seat in the bottom rhs receiver so that
it was up about 1/2". I could not press it down and in properly either. It still did connect with the upper receiver where you pull down on the canvass whatever strap to release.

Trouble was no way would that upper receiver disconnect. I could hear the receiver "grating" a bit as I pulled and levered etc however it would not release.

Came back to it after several hours and had another go using same methods as before and low and behold it released. A plastic clip cover on the upper catch that the seat receptacle fits
into came off and maybe thats what made it release. Its back on with no visible.

Both parts of the seat weigh 70 lbs if anyone is interested.

Filled up with 87 Octane gas. Want to find out how car runs on a 450 mile trip with low Octane gas and water/meth injection.

Most of the time even without the water/meth system there should not be a problem since the compression ratio is so low.
