What say you 2008 120K miles vs 60K miles?
I am looking at two 2008 VDPs for sale:
# 1: Right below 60K miles, near mint shape, all 4 air shocks were covered under Jaguar certified warranty a few years back, only regular maintenance, tires nearly new .... asking right under $20,000 (2 owner)
#2: Right under 125K miles, nice shape not mint as the other but appears excellent, air shocks never changed from what the 2nd owner knows, driven 70K miles on it in last 30 months! Thermostat @ 65K, Waterpump @ 82K, Alternator at 106K, Battery at 106K, Serpentine Belt, plugs, transmission service at 104K, tires 108K, and Brakes at 121K, other regular maintenance completed .... asking right under $10,000 (2 owner)
Both have same options except #1 has factory entertainment headrests and # 2 has aftermarket entertainment headrests. Every other option is identical.
Buy the 125K mile one and bank the $10,000 or buy the # 1 mint. So torn; $10,000 can buy a lot of maintenance especially since I do everything myself, but the 125K miles is 125K miles.
What say the experts on this forum? Thanks.

This is a very interesting dilemma. There are several discussions in this forum about this type of choice.
I am looking at used Land-rover Rang Rover SCs and am thinking about this type of choice.
A higher mileage car may well have had a number of key components replaced fairly recently.
A lower mileage car might just be approaching the stage where it will need some key components replaced.
The higher mileage car option you have I would think carefully about all aspects of the suspension. as well as the transmission if it has not had a fluid change.
The lower mileage car option you have is not quite high enough in my mind to worry too much about major components yet. At 80-90k I would worry.
The overall condition in my mind is quite important and also the number of owners.
The worst outcome is buying the more expensive low mileage car and then running into some big bill replacements.
An independent check might be advisable.
I bought my Jag with 99,000 on it and it was a single owner car.
Touch wood I have had no problems in the 7,000 miles that I have put on the car other than what I have caused. Thats a long story involving my super charger.

Well I decided to buy the 2008 VDP with 122,000 miles from a private owner in Arizona. With all of the service records he had I decided to buy it sight unseen. I had it shipped and received it on Friday. It is in even better shape that I expected and all services are up to date. The one thing that surprises me is nothing has ever been changed on the suspension. I guess that will happen soon. The car was driven 70,000 miles in 30 months by his wife. I do my own wrenching so I am curious besides what I searched on here if there is anything imminent I should be immediately concerned about?
I paid $8,000 which I could not pass up as I spoke to him on and off for about a month and he gradually reduced the price; once I noticed that he put $310 tires on each wheel about 10,000 miles ago I knew he did not cheap out on things and said deal and wired the money the next morning.
Beautiful car; don't know why I waited so long to buy a Jag. My wife will be getting her F-Pace in the next few weeks as it is at the port. No more Saabs to buy; so time to gradually move on.
