What steering or suspension part is this? Can I replace just the worn rubber boot or do I need a whole new part? Thank you.

It's the upper control arm. I think Fraser may have provided a link to replacement boots but the the whole control arm is usually the remedy. They're pretty cheap.

And Lo here I am ! (Fraser)

Yes, I did investigate buying new ball-joint boots on the internet some time ago. They are very cheap and if the joint remains good, (no play or squeaking), then certainly worth seeing if a replacement boot does the job. The only thing is they are not a Jaguar spare part so you have to measure up the old one to get the dimension, after which you can hunt for a new boot. Buy two as the other side will no doubt have gone as well.

Apart from the ball joint boots, the upper wishbone bushes and ball joint are very long lived, and the inner bushes are available and can be swapped separately.
