I look forward to seeing proof that it can be done to a 2004-2009 XJ8. In the last thread you started relating to this, several people offered input, but when I followed their links and they always referred to other Jag models or Pre-2004 XJ8 Nav systems that didn't have the same Nav unit. I have yet to see a picture of an aftermarket backup camera/aux input in use on a 2004-2009 XJ8.
I would love to see it as I would like to install a backup camera, I don't have any need to watch movies while I drive, but I can see the usefulness of a backup camera and the installing of an additional video input to the screen would be the same process.

I think there are a few threads doing this on the X350 on the UK forum, a quick look found this but sure there are more

Hahaha, once I was driving in Atlanta and I saw this HUGE GPS on the dash. Then I looked closer, these idiots were watching hardcore **** driving down the highway! Insane!

The Nav TV unit will work on your car, I have installed backup cameras as well as an interface to play video on the nav screen. The setup I have done would allow you to display your Ipod on the nav screen & play any video from your Ipod. I am not sure about the rear DVD interfacing with the nav screen. If you contact Nav TV 866-477-3336 xt 106 Bob he may be able to help you. There is a way to send a signal from a seperate DVD player to feed all 3 screens but that defeats what you are trying to do.

I tried the TV option on my 2004 XJR, it is not as easy as you think. I was able to get reception on a couple of stations but never able to get volume. There are a couple of issues 1 being the antenna, the factory setup uses 4 antennas & amplifiers that connect to the rear window which is also different. No matter what we did we could not get volume, also the picture was black & white.

Anyhow, I was suggesting using the antenna input as a source via an RF adapter making all else a moot point.

The XJ is a heavy car, a fully loaded big rig is heavier and higher with a steel plate for a bumper.
So, if the two of them have a headon while watching their shows, the big rig wins.
Why not just get it over with and install a 50 inch flat screen for a windshield and use the PIP function with a camera to steer the car?

To take this thread in a slightly different direction, as the father of two young children, it would be fantastic if I could see what the kids are seeing and control the rear DVD screens from the the front screen, even if only when stopped. The current arrangement, arching around to see what is going on and then reaching back to fix it is unsafe even for the front passenger when the car is moving and simply annoying when it isn't. Even brand new rear seat entertainment systems seem primitive and inconvenient compared with just about any other consumer electronics.

There are multiple reported cases of truck drivers watching **** in the cabs of their trucks using laptops mounted on the dash while driving with a load ... and getting into accidents.
