Question Wheels and tires

I have a chance to purchase a brand new set of wheels and tires off of a 2016 XF. Wheels are 18"X8" tires are 245/45-18. Will these work/fit on my 2007 XJ8?
Thank you.

Miles -
there is a great site called wheel-size.com that calculates automatically the dynamics of tire and wheel fitment for all cars, including our jags.

I have purchased 2 sets of XF wheels (I think from 2012 models) for my 05 super v8, but not tires. If I remember right the wheels I bought are 18 x 9 inch and I run 255/45/18 tires rather than the original 255/40/19. The 18 inch wheels work and look fine and the 45 aspect ration actually gives a softer ride which I prefer and a little more rim protection from pot holes and such without much loss in cornering ability.

Your 245 tires will be slightly narrower but will also work fine.

BTW I paid $400 for a set of 5 rims in both instances and all the rims were round (I had them checked after purchase and made it clear to seller if they weren't I was bringing them back) and all rims were essentially free of any road rash marks.

Visit wheel-size.com and you'll see how useful is the site.

Whats seller asking and are you buying 5?

ok?

Yes - You did state that the tires and rims are new - so you should be good to go - rims needing repairs ruin a deal - hopefully you are getting a great price.

Thank you Mike. I can get a set of 4 for $700. They include brand new Goodyear tires. All lug nuts are 4 locks are included. Two Questions: Will the TPMS work on my 07? and I do now the speedo will be off by about 2mph, will that be a problem? Thanks again.

I am not an expert on the TPMS but think it will work

And that the speedometer is of is no big deal as long as you know there is a difference!

700 is a great price for the rims and tires together.

Beware of the possible offset difference.
Dunno for XF, but for X350/358 it's ET 49
Also, may be a width difference between front and rear wheels for an XF (and ET?).
Hence the existence of 8" and 9" XF wheels...

Apparently the offset on 18x8 wheels on a 2016 XF is ET 45.

On the X-100 series with its relatively even front - rear weight distribution, and the owners relatively sedate driving habits (read: rare burnouts), rotating the tires for even wear is greatly overrated, and not needed.

I’ve been thru 4 sets of tires and the difference in wear between the front tires and the rears is not enough to lose sleep over.

get the wider wheels for the rear just as Jaguar did, and for good reason.

The wider wheels do affect the amount of tread that contacts the road, and thereby the traction in a positive way. The looks also are
different to the discerning eye.
