Ah, well mine is too in a very small amount, unfortunately. Not sure this can be repaired as it it part of the gate.

I guess it was another cost saving measure by Jaguar!

Or maybe it was a weight savings measure!

It is actually made of metal, I snagged something on it from the underside of the gate and about a 1/4 of an inch bent up, when I tried to bend it down, it broke off Been like that for a couple of years since I don't feel like replacing the entire assembly so I just ignore it. Hopefully with the entire surround piece chromed (not the piano black), it won't be so noticeable. I just wish the chrome company would hurry up and let me pick it up already!!!

The chrome may be made of metal, but what's underneath it is plastic!

You could, but first you may want to try this place, I don't know them or if they can do this but they are closer to you than I am, right by the Williamsburg Bridge.

Made the 80 mile drive again to pick up my parts today, unfortunately the overhead console looks like the chrome had contaminates in it and so they are redoing them on Monday. However, the shifter surround is finished and really does make the console area look amazingly better. Looks like it was designed to be there and WAY better than the matte black plastic it was originally. Here are some pics.

By the way, for anyone considering doing this, keep in mind chrome shows finger prints very easily and requires constant wiping if it bothers you. Just like the existing piano black trim and the chrome buttons on the AC vents. The chrome accents on our cars are subtle and as someone posted on the new X351 forums, they were bothered by how easily all of the chrome in the car smudged so easily, it was one of the reasons they got rid of it.

Looks great, but as mentioned above, I have a new XJ and constantly wipe the finger prints from the chrome on the centre console, the central cubby is opened by touching a chrome bar and the little storage area in front of that is also opened by pushing it down, I like nice and shiny things so always have a duster in the door pocket to keep it clean.

Finally got the overhead console back. Took me a long time to put all of the electronics back together and then I managed to scratch it while snapping it back into the roof. UGH!!!!!!!!

Otherwise it looks awesome.

Now just waiting to get the 13 seat switch covers and the air dam blade and the car will be done.

There aren't many places, I guess. I know there is one in Tennessee and a couple around here, also California.
