If so, what winter tires do you run? Any traction issues? Let's see some snow photos!

Never again! Factory tires still on the car.

 

I do. Mine gets driven in all conditions......and YES traction issues with whatever make of tyres.
Right now I am on a cheap set and they are just as bad (or no worse would be more accurate).

I drive every day in the conditions of severe Russian winter.. only Nokkian Hakka 7!! The best choice..I have no any traction issues and usually have no trouble But sometimes it is good to turn off DSC because it doesn't allow to move the car in the deep snow..
And very good to have LSD diff!!!

 

I have no choice since I sold the X-Type, the XJR is now my daily driver.

Pirelli Sottozero winter tyres & Venus wheels off an XK, which I picked up cheap off eBay...

all my XJ's have had the stock all seasons..........and thankfully never once did i have any kind of issue. she held her ground very well.....especially coming out of deep snow parking spots

 

OK, I'm told that confession is good for the soul, so here's my "boy am I dumb" confession:

We almost never get snow here in central NC. But one day I was visiting my son in northern VA and on the day we were to leave I awoke to find the roads covered with a couple of inches of snow. . So I said, hmmm, I'd better switch on the DSC, so I pressed the button. My XJ8L is the first rear-wheel drive car I've had in a long time. As I started driving I said, wow, even with DSC these rear-wheel drive cars don't do all that well in the snow.

Of course, I later re-read the manual and learned that pressing that DSC switch turns DSC.....OFF!

^^hahahahahaha. its ok, honest mistake...not like you purposely turned it off to be silly.

I turned mine off one day out of curiosity......back end stepped out and was an inch away from hitting parked cars :X "boy was i dumb"

First thing I do on a snowy day start is turn TRAC off.

I want to be the one that determines what to do with the power, not some computer algorithm.

I drive my '06 XJR in the winter - my summer driver is the SL500. I run it on these:

255/40R-19 Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 XL

on these:

19x8.5 Sport Edition WX5 Bright Siver

The wheels are, I believe, Tire Rack's brand, but they look great. No pix on the car - here's a stock photo:



I think they look better than the OEM wheels - at least very similar:



I won't say she runs great in the snow, but better on winters than summers for sure.

 

2008 XJR, optional 19" wheels. I have posted elsewhere on this forum about several months' impressions from Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position, nominally an all-season tire. Briefly,

On wet roads and in the rain with moderate temperatures excellent.
On packed snow and ice: Terrible. Really bad. Get something else.

Several years ago I had a Q45 with Michelin Pilot Alpine Sport winter H-rated tires which were really good overall. But not available in the size I need now.

 

No garage, daily driver, Chicago winters.

After attempting a winter in performance all-seasons I found a great deal on lightly used Blizzacks, all around. What a blessing. I don't worry about snow any more.

 

Just picked up my second LWB XJ and this one came with a 50% worn set of Dunlop Winter Sport 3D's. Had to deal with slushy and icy remnants of the two inches we got last night in Rochester, MN and it was...ok. I will get another set of rims and go with Blizzak snows next year and see what happens. I think especially with the long wheelbase cars the weight distribution is so front biased these cars will always struggle a little. I made it through winter in my other
XJ8L a couple years ago on the all seasons and it felt similar!

 

Cambo351's snowful XJ resparked my joy in my car. The car's long flat shape blanked smoothly by white snow flakes, makes an awesome beautiful site to look at! It's classic, and makes me proud to be the owner of such a beautiful car!

I am one of those guys that puts his Jaguars away for the winter and drives a winter beater instead. My winter car is a chrysler mini van. Does not matter if it gets damaged by one of the idiots that never learn how to drive in the snow and we have far too many of them up here to dare take my Jag out.

 

drove my XJ to work today.....through an inch of snow while getting my back heated and massaged............made traffic much more bareable

 

the blizzacks are doing well on my 09 xf,the winter mode helps tone down the beast
