According to our English papers we are the Baby Boomer generation, born after the men came home for World War 2, which must be me as I was born in 1946.
So next year I retire, and again according to our newpapers, we are stealing all the pension money and ther will be nothing left for the next generation, they will all have to work till they drop dead !!

I don't really believe this, frankly. We really need to get the banksters to cough up a load of their ill gotten gains and balance things out.

I'm 59 and had been looking for a late model XKR for some time now. My main problem was how to get buying it past the wife.

We had our first grandchild and my wife came to me complaining she couldn't fit a child seat in her Mustang convertible and she was not going to give it up. She continued by saying,"I know you have been looking for a XKR but lets be practicle and get a XJR so we can fit the child seat". I saw the logic and switched to looking for a XJR but found a real clean XJ8.

I now have my Jag and love it. On days I want the wind in my hair I take the Mustang, but even on those days I do find it hard to give up the Jag.

Haggis, they sell a pad so the child seat does not make any dents in the leather seats.

I am only 33, but I have been driving and XJR since 2003, so I was 25. and My brother and my wife always make fun of me. Every time they see a jag, they start telling me "look look it's an old man driving that jag." I use to get annoyed because every jag we saw would be an old person driving it. But the other day I had to have some work done on my wife's VW Toureg, so she drove the XJR for a few days, and she actually admitted that that is a fun car, plus she liked the fact that the gas gauge barely moved in 4 days of driving.
Now we all know that the XJR is not all that fuel efficient, but it just shows how bad the Toureg is on gas.

I don't care if it's an old mans car. I'm not saying it is. When I'm in it, I'm ageless. I've never had a car make me feel like this. Im 43yrs/old. I bought her thinking that when I'm old, I'm going to be that cool old dude who gets up early Saturday morning to polish and then cruise around in the bad-a$$ car he's had for 40 years.

Haha, well I traded that one in and eventually got my Series III XJ6, whose owners average 95 years in age.

I just turned 49 and owned the the Jag for about 10 mths. Love this XJ8 great power and ride.

Not that many in my town, so friends know me when I drive down the road.
When I drive my wife's E320 wagon I'll pass 12 other E320's going to Starbucks!

I'm 50 something and have been driving Jags for 11 years. I don't know why it's stuck with the old mans car but when I get into my XJR, head out on the highway, put it on the floor and hear the whine of the supercharger it feels pretty damn good waving to the kids as this old man flys by them like they were standing still. I don't know if it's possible to feel any younger.

You could make the same case for elderly owners for just about any car that costs over $50k - young people don't usually have that kind of bank. I haven't seen many young people driving Ferarris or Lamborghini's either. There's also the fact that most young people prefer something a little more sporty than a big luxury car, and until recently there wasn't much "sport" in the luxury car segment.

I got my first Jag when I was 16 - a 1966 4.2 E-Type XK. I just couldn't afford to keep it running on my McDonald's pay. Got an '83 Series III XJ6 when I was 43, and an '04 XJR when I was 52. However, since the mid-90's I've had more than one car, so all the niches are filled. Besides the Series III and the XJR the current stable includes a 1963 Herbie The Love Bug Replica VW, a 1969 Camaro Z/28 RS (that I bought back in 1976 to replace the E Type) a 1991 Porsche 944 Cabriolet, a 1992 Ford F250 Supercab, a 1998 BMW 750iL and a 2008 Pontiac Solstice.

I just turned 31 and bought a XJR. I had wanted one since high school but even though when I graduated college I had the money my upbringing to be tight with finances held me back. Depreciation finally brought the aluminum XJR down far enough I was willing to buy one.

To young people looking for a Jag insurance costs are a real concern all I can say there is keep shopping around. I was able to get mine covered for 750 bucks for the year for 500K coverage.

It's not just the owners who are getting old, so it this post !!

Y'know, I was out in the Jag with my wife on Saturday for her to visit IKEA near Manchester, and coming back on our local roads, (not motorway, too boring !), followed a Nissan Note for several miles. Now those in the UK will know that this car is a very common purchase by pensioners, and they tend to drive very slowly. As I tootled along behind, (road too busy to pass), I thought maybe somewhere in England there is a garage with a Nissan Note waiting for me too. When I was younger I was a real petrolhead, and still am, my wife is always asking "what car is that ?", "is that a Chrysler 300C or a Bentley ?" and so on. I don't drive the Jaguar really fast, but I like to go briskly along, and I have to say that if I ever get the feeling I should sell the Jaguar and buy a Nissan Note, then I will step straight into my box and be done with it.

I always loved XJs, bought mine 10 months ago when I was 22.

In my city of a little over a million people I can go for weeks without seeing another XJ, let alone an X350. These cars are a demonstration of taste on wheels

I'm 36 and I'm on my 4th Jaguar. I bought my first one in 2005...so I was about 28 or 29 when I got it. I never felt old driving my X-Type, but did feel a little dated driving my S-Type (though the fact that the gas gauge never moved was awesome!) I was ageless driving my XKR-100...plenty of people to rub my ego with that one. Now with my LWB Vanden Plas...I will admit that I feel a bit old driving it. Or maybe that would be better phrase as I feel young, but it feels like an "old person's car". HOWEVER, I really enjoy driving it and my wife drives it whenever I'm not home (I can tell she drove it when it's not parked right and when the car seats are in the back...)

I have made the decision that I would have much rather driven my Vanden Plas cross country than my XKR...even though driving the XKR cross country was fun and fast...

I don't know what my next Jag is going to be. Between my previous Jags I dabbled in the BMW world...and my wife wasn't happy. Back to Jags (again) and she's happy. So what's next....hmmm....

Forgot to mention in my previous post that I'd love to get a vintage Jag, but I don't know how being young (relatively) goes with vintage Jags. Previously, I've owned two 1929 Model A Fords and was involved in the local Model A club. Now talk about feeling young...the average age in the club was about 70...
