Hi all...heard this very subtle "screeching noise"( sounds somewhat like velcro ) when turning the steering wheel from side to side...sounds like its coming from the steering rack...I have less than 7000 miles on the car...I had a similar noise on my '06 e55 at 10k and had the steering rack replaced....Is this normal on Jags or should I take it in and have it looked at?
thanks!!!
thanks!!!

Sounds like a type fault in the steering rack.It is due to a lack of lubrication in a bearing, when I say bearing I believe it's actually a PTFE bush. The noise is transmitted up the steering column and into the cabin. Jaguar sell an additive which you add to the power steering fluid tank. Part No O2C2S48887. It costs about £5 and is about 90% effective.
