Windows open automatically. Why?

Windows open automatically. Why?
I can't explain this issue:
How can the windows open automatically? This concerns me if I have my car parked in an insecure or mall parking lot.
I parked my car in front of my house. Windows up and locked the vehicle. I had the rear window sunscreen up. The outside temp was about 70 deg. I looked out my home window about 2 hours later to see that ALL four windows were down and the sunroof was open. I had not accessed the car or key fob for over 2 hours, nor were they open when I parked the car...I'm strictly an AC guy. Screw the environmentalists!
I'm sure it is something within the settings menu on my NAV screen, but am unsure. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hmmmm can't be sure dab, but it sounds like global open to me?
Are you sure you haven't at any time pressed / held the unlock button for 2-3 seconds? If so and you have this feature enabled ALL the windows etc will roll down. I have this feature on my A6 and this had happened to me whilst sitting watching tv with the keys in my pocket.
Try using the fob as I described and see what happens... you may find this is your cause.
Failing that I hope someone with more knowledge than me can chime in and help...
Good luck

Hi if you find that you have the global opening enabled you may want to first see how many times this happens in a one or two week time. Then if you have a second key use that one and get the first one far enough away from the car so that if there is a clitch or short in the circuit board of the remote it will not activate the global opening. With certain years and makes of Volvo's (which I'm a Volvo master tech) we had remotes that would active some functions of the remotes without any action from the owners. To repair we would replace the battery and circuit board. Good luck George.

Now I know...
Global opening was enabled. I successfully opened everything simultaneously by holding the unlock button for 2-3 secs. Interestingly, with the original fob in my pocket, the 2nd fob will not UNLOCK nor global open my car, but it will LOCK the car. This may the circuit board issue on the 2nd fob(?). Can I disable this global opening feature? Not sure I want to, now that I know I control the issue, but I am curious. Thanks for all the help.

Nice one dab..its a feature that not all owners know about and some ( like yourself ) come across it accidentally.
One thing I always do when I get a new car is to make sure I read the handbook thoroughly....If nothing else you get to know the car and usually come across one or two nice little features like this
Its up to you, but its a really cool feature for hot sunny days / to show off a little too sometimes maybe. Now that you are aware of it, I'd bet that you're more careful and its unlikely to happen again.

This happened to me on three consecutive nights not too long ago...in the dead of winter. I parked the car at night, came out to find the windows and sunroof open. On the first instance, the car had been sitting for two, possibly three days! Curiously, that this response from the car does not occur immediately. I was pretty certain that the key was in a secure location where I could not have pressed the Unlock button. I switched keys and no more problems. I thought that it had something to do with the key. Fortunately, I had a car cover on the vehicle. But, I am convinced that the moisture that got in caused the headliner to sag...not a problem before.
