Winter tires - tire pressure

Winter tires - tire pressure
After getting caught in some snow last winter with my all season tires I decided to pick up a set of Michelin X-Ice winter tires for my XJ8. I also downsized to 17 inch rims from 18's. I expected to lose some of the handling capabilities, however I didn't expect the squirmy/bouncy feel that I'm experiencing. I feel like I'm driving my dad's early 80's Cadilac. I realize the new tread has something to do with it however I've used winter tires before on other cars. I kept the pressure to the recommended 28/30 (F/R) however I'm wondering if I should go up a few pounds. Does anyone use winter tires and have any suggestions? I can't seem to find anything from Jaguar that specifically addresses winter tires.

Tire pressure should not change with summer vs. winter tires. The difference in ride you're experiencing is probably more to do with the taller sidewalls of the 17" tires. I notice the same thing on my S-type when I go from 17" summers to 16" winters.
You could increase pressure slightly (2 psi-ish) but be aware that traction might be compromised. There's also a max. pressure warning on the sidewall that needs to be respected.
