Unhappy Winter woes...?

When starting the car in the morning or even after an hour or more after being parked, I geta 'no DSC' message that’s only on momentarily and a 'no cruise control' messagethat stays on for a while. The temperatures are only in their high 50s (F).

Last winter I had the cruise control message and noticed the car front was low and changed the front left strut and replaced the piston on the compressor using Andy's kit andall was fine. The 'no c/c’ message would disappear if the car was shut off, the key removed for a second and then the car restarted. By this time the front would have reached its operating height too. Now, if the car is parked for a few hours the cruise control message remains on much longer. Over the last two weeksor so, the message would go away if the key was removed and then the car restarted after a mile or so. Today, it remained on for over 20 miles and 30minutes ofdriving!

Can our resident experts shed any light on what I may have or be heading into? Anybody else experience this, and what was your fix..?

While I love the car and the marque, it begs a repeat of a comment another member made (I don't remember who or when, but it was in the last six months): Doesn't it get cold in England too? Then how come they don't have similar issues and whatis Jaguar doing about this? I mean in the older models it was the Lucas electrics (or lack thereof..) and these days its the pneumatic suspension. The early 90s models of teh XJ6 had the hydraulic suspension, also with issues. I know Mercedes and Audis have similar pneumatic suspensions, but they don't appear to be as problematic...

How old is the battery? That may be the culprit. Try keeping the battery on a trickle charger for 3-4 days and see if the issue goes away. Lets hope that works!

+1 on the battery as an initial part of the diagnosis. Typically it's the crank amps that aren't good and it affects all sorts of systems when turning the vehicle over.

Ok. Thanks XJL and trosty, I'll get the charger on it and see if the gremlins go away...

I'll keep you posted.

Since I only drive my car 3-4 miles per day, I'm at the point now where I just keep it on the trickle charger every night and on weekends when I'm not out and about.
