Wipers do not park at the bottom

Wipers do not park at the bottom
After 10 - 20 mins of driving in the rain, with the windshield wipers on "Auto" or one of the fixed interval settings decide to no longer park in the horizontal position. I understand the fix for this is motor replacement, and also that the motor can be hard to get out. My question is this: Before I cough up the cash for a new or rebuilt motor, has anyone who has had this problem been able to fix the motor themselves? If so, what was the fix?
Thanks
Paul.

You are going to need a new motor and possibly relay. the dealer only has the whole assembly linkage and motor available as one unit. It can be very tricky to replace the whole assembly. It is possible to replace just the motor without removing linkage, just loosening and tilting to get access but you have to be sure to pay close attention to the location of all the linkages to keep proper timing and parking of arms.
The workshop manual says to remove the brake booster to replace the wiper motor assembly.
