X350 Compact Disc Changer (CDC) Error
The symptoms were: "CDC Error" in the audio display and cartridge not being able to be ejected.
After doing the requisite research, I removed the compact disc changer from the boot, disassembled it, managed to get the cartridge out, did some lubing where I thought lubing was needed. I did not see any thing wrong with the unit (compared to posts outlining troubled areas) so I assembled the unit back, re-installed it and got the same error.
Figuring it was a bad unit, I sourced one from eBay and the seller guaranteed it to be a fully functional unit. I installed it today and what do you know! The same, exact freaking error: "CDC Error" and the cartridge is stuck.
I pulled out my AutoEnginuity setup and pulled the codes. For the Audio subsystem I got B2477 and B2403.
I am suspecting one of two possibilities:
- Some reprogramming of the audio subsystem is needed *or*
- I was sold a bad unit.
Any experience with this type of problem out there?

While I'm surprised that the Alpine changer is not the source of frustration, B2403 points to the Front Entertainment Control Module. Sorry.
The changers are notorious for failure of the loading variety. There is a procedure out here somewhere that is used to fix that, but it appears a "No Discs" on the display.
Again, sorry.

CDC Error
I have had this twice before, and have gone straight to my workshop for help. On the first occasion, I was not able to get the cartridge out, but the mechanic did so and cleaned it and got it going.
On the second occasion, I did the same, and apparently all it needed was cleaning - of what I am not sure. However since it did not cost much, I think it was probably just cleaning of the cartridge.
Two days ago, got the same message, so I just stopped the car to do my shopping, and before restarting, went to the boot and ejected the cartridge without any problem! Put it back, started the car, and off we went with the CDC playing my music once again!! May be something to bear in mind before doing any stripping etc as it may be just the usual electronic gremlins!
I'll do the same next time to see if that works again!

Cartridge stuck
Gillja,
Same here with an 05 vdp.
I used a nice thin stainless steel spatula. Underneath cartridge., jiggled, Pressed button, and presto, ejection happened.
Cleaned with micro cloth. Replaced. Selected at dash, and it works fine.
My car battery is original. I am wondering if it might be getting weak after 9 years... Reads 12.22 V at rest after sitting overnight.
Keep an eye on it.
Expensive unit.
Snowing hard here in the mountains.
Cheers.

When I purchased my X350 (model-year 2004) in June 2013, it had already had a battery change in 2008. Not knowing the acual status of the battery and wishing not to have an unexpected failure during traveling, I changed the battery and purchased a powerful AGM Varta Start and Stop Plus.
Fyi, I kept however the "old" standard Varta in case and I regularly reload it with my Ctek every month. I observe that the voltage never drops below 12.7 volt even after one month still, a good sign.

>>Cdc error maybe caused by poor voltage
We like to attribute every Jaguar fault to battery voltage, but this one is not. Many sensors in the Jag are sensitive to voltage, but the CDC is not one of them. The CDC runs on very low power mostly 5V converted from the main source.
I run a unit on my desk on 11V (puny 12V power supply that does not have enough Juice) and it works just fine.
These things have mechanical parts with plastic gears and after a few years some get stuck. A good cleaning would to the trick, if you don't have anything broken. Insert and eject the magazine a few times to get the gears moving again and the lubricant flowing.

I found the "worm" gear repair guide for a CD change for Mercedes. From what I've seen these are very similar to the jaguar unit. Both use the same D2B optical bus, but the Merc uses different optical connector. I'm trying to get my hands on one and confirm if these are indeed identical units inside.
Anyway this may help https://blogs.oracle.com/miko/entry/cd_changer_repair

CD Stacker stuck again!!
After feeling so good about getting it going again after the last two occasions, now cannot get the cartridge out with a flat blade, juggling it around and pressing the eject button! As I cannot bend enough to get the whole unit out, will just have to go to my mechanic - not sure it is worth it as it will happen again! Perhaps the best bet is to ignore it and just use the single one in the dash!
