X350 Highway MPG how are we doing?
Just finished up fixing all the vac leaks and took the car for a 200 mile run. Full tank of cheap prem fuel, cruise set at 65 MPH: range for the tank of gas was 498 miles, car got 34.5 MPG highway and always has got 25 MPG around town. With 168,000 miles on her, should I expect any better than this?? What do you all get and how many miles on your cars?? Brandon

I've owned it since February, it always got at least 22 around town. Other than a new MAF sensor, and fixing vac leaks, this is the second 200+ mile highway trip with the same results of 34.5 mpg.... It now gets 25 around town consistently ... But I really did expect a bit better considering the body and subframes are just recycled beer cans.... Brandon

I would be curious to hear from any owners who have compared the fuel economy calculated by the onboard computer with actual measurements. I haven't done this on our '04, but on our '93 I've found that the onboard computer is typically low by 2-3 mpg, and sometimes as far low as 5-6 mpg! In other words, the actual, measured fuel economy is significantly better than the onboard computer indicates. The difference increased after I installed Andy Stodart's timing-advance CPS bracket.
One of these days I intend to test our '04 to see if the same may be true.
Cheers,
Don

I hate to ask, but have you verified your mileage by filling it to the brim, driving it those long distances, then refilling it to the brim, noting the amount of gas and manually calculating it? I get the same as everyone else here. I even noticed on my old X300 that as it got older, the display actually became a little more optimistic than actual. I'm hoping you've some sort of super car and the NSA can figure out what is happening (heck, Jag should investigate it!). But please let us know if you've verified the computer with actual measurements.

I've done the numbers by re fuel and calculate and got almost the exact same numbers as the in dash computer is giving me... Shamefully, I have been using discount Supermarket prem grade fuel and not a major branded fuel. My 2002 VDP always got better MPG using chevron vs supermarket gas. It's taken me 7 months to begin to like this Jag vs my great older 02 VDP, so maybe the next gas up will be better quality gas ;-)). Brandon

My car is a PIG compared to Cambo351's. My car gave me an average of 17.9 after a 60 Mile round trip according to the display. I need to do my own calculations to verify but I am pretty confident i am not getting 36 miles a gallon.
I have the following mods, Mina Gallery air filter to a Caldoofy intake tube, 3lb. Supercharger pulley, Middle resonators removed and replaced with a Magnaflow Muffler with internal X-pipe and straight pipes in place of the converters. Spark plugs were replaced about two months ago and I run Shell 92 Octane.
No ECU mods have been done and I am curious if a hard reset would help.
Woodford.

OK I have to confess. That's 36.6mpg in Imperial Gallons. It works out as 30.5mpg in US gallons, 7.7 litres per 100km.
That was on a 680km round trip in Switzerland, cool weather, and I was doing my best to drive economically, I drove the whole way looking at the instant fuel readout & tried to keep it on 7L/100km as much as possible.
I have never driven a fast car so slowly, I got passed by everyone on the highway; cars, trucks, buses, you name it they overtook me.
Have not come close to that mileage since. Best on the last long trip was 8.8L/100km which is 32.1mpg (UK) and 26.7mpg (US)

I have had the exhaust system modified and a K&N filter in the original box and a custom flash tune pretty happy with how it goes now
just waiting for my new indicator stalk switch and passenger side rear lock and its nearly perfect (LOL)
