Default X350 L/H Drivers Door Actuator - What year Ford Mondeo will fit, please?

Dear Forum,

After some research (and my thanks to Meirion1) I believe the microswitches in my L/H Drivers door actuator have failed.

I read somewhere that a L/H Drive Ford Mondeo Drivers Door Actuator will fit my L/H drive X350; can anyone confirm this please and if so which year?
I am having great difficulty finding a replacement for a L/H car?

Would guess maybe the same years as our cars, like a lot of the other Ford cars did???

Hi Ray
I believe that there is only one microswitch in the driver's door and the status switches are the 'wipe' type.

If you have a LH jag then the best place to find a replacement would be the USA and perhaps our American friends
could help with that.

Please describe the symptoms with your door lock.

Thanks Meirion1.

All my doors are unlocked when I go to the car in the morning (but in fairness I do not lock it at night in my basement video-screened parking place).

It locks itself as I move off.

My car unlocks with the fob, but will not lock with the fob?

It does not make any 'chirp' noise etc when unlocking with either key or fob, or locking with the key?

It unlocks and locks with the key. It does all the things it should do with the key (opens/closes all windows, sunroof etc).

When I get out of the car and without locking it with the key, my rear doors are locked and I must unlock them with the fob (or perhaps the key in the driver's door, I have not tried) if I want to get my car cover out of the back seat (I use a car cover in my basement parking space because I am too British and stingy to pay for car cleaning in this dust-laden country)!

It would appear that my rear doors lock automatically when I drive off and they stay locked when I exit the car?

A mind of its own would appear to be the appropriate description?

When I say 'wipe' they are just on/off switches but they work using a contact on a track

and the contact moves in a circular motion when the actuator fires.

There is no 'chirp 'only the sound of the actuators firing and the front flashers flash once.

Drive away locking is normal but all doors should unlock when you pull interior handle to exit vehicle.

Please do the following checks in the morning:

1 Check that all doors are unlocked by opening every door in turn.

Are all doors unlocked?

If not which doors are locked?

Unlock any doors with the key.

Does the alarm sound when you open a door-if so which door?

2 Lock all doors with the key and check that all doors are locked by trying each door in turn.

Are any doors not locked?

Does the alarm sound when you open a door-if so which door?

That's it for now

Thanks Meirion1. All doors are unlocked with both the fob and the key. When unlocked, all doors open without an alarm.
When locked (using the key to lock) the front flashers flash once. and all doors are locked BAR THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR...When opened, the alarm sounds?

When I pull the interior lever to exit, the back doors remain locked?

So it would appear that your orderly system check has revealed that it is my front passenger door actuator that is faulty; perhaps my Driver's door as well (back doors remaining locked when lever pulled)?

Yes that's a fault with the pass actuator.

Just check what happens when you lock all doors with the FOB and

try to open all doors in turn.

Any unlocked and any alarm?

Re the rear doors locked try sitting in the car and lock all doors with the FOB.

Pull the interior handle on a rear door then the other rear door then the pass door in turn

with locking the doors between tests. Please report results

Thanks again, Meirion1.
I cannot lock the doors with the fob, only with the key. Nothing happens when I press the fob lock button.
I can lock all doors with the key bar the front passenger door and the other three all unlock with both the key and the fob.
The front passenger is kaput. I get the alarm if I open it when the others are all locked
The other three doors, all the windows and the sun roof all work correctly with the key held in lock and unlock position.
If I lock with the key in the driver's door whilst still open, I get the correct double horn warning.
Only the rear doors lock when I shift to drive.
So obviously I need to replace the front passenger actuator. What say you about my Driver's door actuator, please?

I think that that maybe the driver's door is not locking and that's why the rears stay locked when you exit the car.

After driving check to see if the chrome button above the handle is in the locked position.(down flush with the handle)

You could try to reprogram the Fob with the headlight flashing method. NB you have to do it really fast.

The other possibility is a fault on the DDM connectors in the Driver's door which could be resolved by

cleaning with contact cleaner or maybe just disconnecting and replacing the connector has been known to work.

Thank you Meirion1. I will try the reprogram. When you say DDM, I assume you are referring to the Driver's Door Module and (I believe) that is a separate item to the driver's door actuator? Whereabouts is it behind the door skin? Is it obvious, please?

You are correct.

Tip If you don't know what something looks like ask Google Images as above

BTW It is possible that the fob fault is that the 'lock' button is not working
