Still new at figuring out the choices for my XJ8 purchase.
I need help in understanding the difference that buying an XJ8 with Navigation would be over one that does not have navigation. I can see from the photos that a car with Navigation has a very large screen inside of the "horseshoe" whereas one without has two small screens---but I do not know the differences as far as functionality goes. I am not a fan of using Navigation programs to find my way around this earth, but are there other features that go along with Navigation that are not including without Navigation?

A unit with Nav will have other functions integrated into the unit, such as radio, CD/CDC, AC controls, etc.

A non Nav unit will have all of those functions separated into individual components.

IMHO, if I had to do it again, I'd choose to get a non Nav model since I could more easily change out the sound system for a more modern one with BT phone and BT streaming, and the ability to mirror my smartphone screen etc.

Thanks for the good info. I have picked out a car that I like very much with 77K that has had over $6500 of work done recently including front shocks and new compressor and I really like the fact that it has been well-maintained and at least half the shock cost has already been paid, but it doesn't have navi and I was worried that I should try to find one with navi. Now I am not worried!!!
The question now arises, Can you please tell me some specific models of radio/multimedia units that you know about that would fit the bill of your recommendations? I would be particularly stoked with a unit that would mirror my stupid phone!! I must admit, however, that when it comes to that equipment, I am mostly ignorant.

I'm afraid I'm not a good source of this info as I never got a chance to go down this path. I'd read the Audio/Visual forum on here, and talk to some reputable radio shops in your area for ideas.

I would also touch base with Marque, Evan Trina and a number of others on this forum to get ideas. They have done some excellent work to their systems, and have written some pretty awesome threads about their work.
