Hello

I am looking to trade my 2002 S-Type R for 2003 XJR. The XJR looks soooo much better than STR . One thing I don't like about the XJR I am looking at is this really ugly basic radio and climate control, that looks like this:




Now I am wondering if it's possible to upgrade the radio in the XJR I am looking at. What parts need to be replaced? I don't need navigation. I would just like working touch screen display to control radio and climate and make interior look like this:

Easy, just get an 04 that has the touchscreen. But you're not going to get it without navigation.

I'm not sure if you're in the US or not, but the model interior you showed is at the youngest, an X350 from 04 (if you're in the US or Canada). If i'm not mistaken, the X350 came to the US in 2003 as a 2004 model.

 

If I had my choice, I'd rather have the basic system as it's much easier to upgrade to a more modern setup. The all in one touchscreen makes it more difficult to add Bluetooth phone and streaming, since you can't replace the head unit really given it controls the AC and other non audio related stuff.

 

I am from Europe, the XJR I'm looking at was produced in 2003. I also did a bit of a research, so I need:

- the whole touchscreen unit + CD player
- trunk DVD navigation module
- wireing harmes
- GPS antena
anything else?

Is software update also necessary or it works without it?
