X350 - Push to start and proximity locking function????
Has anyone done away with using a key to start there X350 and installed push to start with proximity locking functionality?
If so did you loose any of the functions I've been told the functions associate with the installation or removal of key could be effected i.e. Steering tilt and etc

I've been on both this and the UK based Jag forum, for this model, for about five years now and I've never seen anyone wanting to do that before.
Why would you want to do that anyway ? The system as fitted to the 350/358, as regards security against 'drive off' theft, is about the most secure you can get. The only thing someone can do, lurking with a radio receiver in order to clone the access codes, is to read the door lock/unlock code coming from the 'remote' section of the fob when you press one of the buttons, and thus gain entry to the car. They can't start it.
To actually start the engine and drive the car the car needs to detect and read the transponder I/D (that's a different chip in the key fob, rather like the I/D microchip that cats or dogs can have injected into their scruff) which unlike the remote lock/unlock chip can only be read from a few inches away; AND even then it still needs a physical key in the ignition lock, as well.
You've got a car with one of the most secure combinations of hardware and software keys.
