Default X350 rear door wont open

Hi everyone, has anyone got any advice on how you can open drivers rear door, when the outside and interior door handles dont work, I am guessing its the actuator, but with door locked closed, I am stuck after taking off the door card as to how to proceed.

Welcome to the forum Simonnz,

I've copied this question from your Intro to X350 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

I have replaced door actuators but I have been lucky because the door lock failed open.

It will be a case of cutting the side of the door from the interior to access the lock and

cutting into the lock.

I suggest searching jaguar forums for actual experience (I use google for this).

It has been done before.

Hey, thanks for that advice, I will give google a search, it took me 2 hours to get off the door card and barrier. I was hoping that as the car was not double locked a carefully put screwdriver or pliers on the internal side of the door may have been able to release something.

The fact that it is not double locked will make it easier but as far as I know the only way

to resolve the problem is to cut through the metal side of the door and the plastic cover.

Isolate 12v supply first-easiest to remove appropriate fuse or unplug in door.

In my case the failure was caused by a small microswitch in the actuator.

It is very small, and has 3 electrical connections.

If you can cut the plastic cover and expose the microswitch without damaging the internals

then short two contacts with a screw driver and fire the open button on the remote

the lock may open or you may just blow a fuse.

I have spare locks and microswitches and can try this on the bench to decide which contacts to

short also I can supply photos of lock internals etc.

This is all assuming that the microswitch is the root cause of failure.

If not you may have to destroy the lock. Used locks are available for little money

if you don't want to buy new.
