That could be an answer why better quality recordings with stereo-bass signal sound better than compressed and low quality recordings with mono-bass - they just become self-muted by phased out stereo subs.

Any of you guys replaced the stock subs lately? All the sub models have changed part numbers from past posts. Looking at Skar, Kicker and Earthquake. Stock never hit the lows enough and hoping to regain the lost sound. Am I wasting time with 6.5" and just need to install a 12" in the trunk? Hate to give up trunk space if the aftermarket 6.5's can get lower than stock. Interested in the Skar's if anyone has input using those.

Replacing the stock subs made a huge difference for me. Way more bass. I'm sure any of those brands will be an improvement, just make sure you match existing sub impedance (so far, they are either 2 or 4ohm), and make sure they'll fit. I would also suggest beefing up the mounting area and making buzz-eliminating efforts. Check out my photos at the beginning of this thread, it'll give you an idea and you can see mounting dimensions.

These are the two new 'KIKCER' subs that I replaced the stock units with in the parcel shelf. Mounted using a piece of MDF to reinforce the flimsy metal parcel shelf which I also covered with sound deadening/dynamatt before refitting the shelf as initially there was a good bit of buzzing with the new speakers. I did this as part of upgrading all the speakers, fitting Bluetooth music and a new amp. Lots of people really like the existing system, but for me upgrading has made a huge improvement in the quality of the sound.

Thanks guys, sounds like worth replacing. Off to order some subs. Will let everyone know what I picked and how they sound.
