I have a engine speed related whirring noise when the car is in any gear. It does go away when I put the car in park or neutral and I suspect it is coming from the torque converter. The noise is very subtle and cannot be heard at all when the car is moving at any speed above walking pace. Can anybody verify that this is normal or not? I serviced the transmission only a few hundred miles ago and it runs great with no errors or abnormal shifts but over a long life I have learned to never ignore something which could be a problem later!

Does it make the noise whilst you're stationary in traffic with the car in gear ?

 

Yes it does, that's when I first noticed it

Recheck the fluid level???
