I agree standard look is "blah". I sometimes run without the insulating top cover which only serves a purpose if in stop and go or plain stopped traffic on a hot day.

Are you suggesting that the cover serves to keep the engine cooler?

There was quite a discussion on this topic in this forum.

It seems that when the car is stationary or moving very slowly heat "accumulates" under the hood mostly I think from the headers. In these conditions the engine cover helps keep the intercoolers cooler.

When the car is moving there is sufficient air moving thru the engine compartment to prevent the heat build up.

Also sitting on hot tarmac adds to the heat build up.

Now there is an argument that when moving the engine cover helps keep the intercoolers a tad warmer than if it was not present.

I have the original puller fan but also twin 6" pusher fans on the additional IC radiator. When all are going the volume of air going thru the radiators and thru the engine compartment feels very impressive to me at least.

Very nice engines there, mine goes the other way, polished, if it wasn’t I’d probably do something similar myself. The factory engine bay is very bland for something so elegant and expensive

If you are referring to mine it is not a sticker. I used a stencil.

Nice! Any write up on your carbon fiber how to? Also, what does the "Stop" sticker say?

I did take some pictures of the process along the way so could do a 'how to' so to speak. Carbon skinning it's called where the original parts are covered with the carbon fibre then resin is applied over the top serves no purpose other than to look different!

The stop sticker is from the k+n panel filter kit telling dealers not to replace the filter element, as i do my own maintenance it's not really required so really should remove it!

Pretty cool stuff. Have you looked into hydro dipping?

From ebay for close to 100 bucks. Its from the RangeRover. 90mm diameter. If you are looking for a larger upper intake tube, I'd recommend that one. It fits perfectly onto the throttle body rubber reducer. You will need a different rubber connector to the J-pipe though since the opening is wider.

Man, the old supercharged 4.2s look so much nicer than the 5.0s.

The "STOP" sticker appears to be the one indicating a K&N air filter is installed in the airbox. Mine peeled off after several years. I used a label maker and typed a similar warning.

After having found I had not looked at the K&N for 2+ years the airbox also has a separate "SERVICE AIR FILTER AT EACH OIL CHANGE" label so I do not have another brain cramp.
