As I become more familiar with the mechanics and electronics of my '07 Jag XJR (this intimacy seems an inevitable counterpart to Jag ownership
),
it appears that the major (mechanical and electrical) change in the X350 line actually came in 2006 with the X356, beginning VIN G49701
The cosmetic facelift (sic) in 2008 with the X358 variant seems much less profound, at least underneath - where it matters. Plus, I much prefer the looks of the earlier cars
Anyhow, if you're chasing parts, or diagnosing things, be aware that the X356 variant (roughly, 2006 - 2007) is quite different than the X350 (and x355 LWB)
Interestingly, looks as if X356 designation includes both SWB and LWB. Here's a reference (see pp 275 -280):

My VIN begins with H. I guess I lucked out. Imporements over the X350 and not the look of the X358.
The bumpers on the later model do not appeal to me. The sleek lines of the X350 - 356 model XJR grow on you. The chrome delete and profile just look correct to me.
