I've been doing same (over last for years) with my '07 - using the X350 (early) service manual in the forum stickies
While ordering Valley Hose parts recently, however, I found that roughly half (20 line items) were different - H code vs G code. Maybe this is just SC cars? (Believe the later SC cars went to VVT engines)
Also, my impression is that electronics very different between generations
Decided this Spring to keep Nanny (my XJR), so I'll probably be needing to use the service manual more and more (or, buy a new car and get a life...)
