Not necessarily ! It is possible to reflash the TCM and get the adaptions reset. I had similar on a 2003 XJ6 3 litre petrol and eventually got transmission faults displayed. The reflash cured it. It was explained to me as slight wear needs some resetting of certain pressure values in the gearbox. A ZF gearbox specialist may be able to help better than a Jaguar agent.

I've moved your question from Diesel variants - All models to X350 forum. For all technical issues apart from the engine, it is usually best to post here although in this instance, Fraser has already given sound advice..
Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.
