Default XJ v. R reliability

How does the R compare to the NA XJ for repairs/reliability/maintenence?

I'm looking at an 05 Super, 40k looks clean for about $25k-sounds decent?

Sounds like a great deal. The XJRs and supers will cost more to maintain. Consider the Brembo brakes, $$$!

R the should only cost you 1 to 2 MPG difference MAX if you dont drive it super hard this me comparing S type R to regular S type 4.2 V8 and also XJ8 vs XJR...

my normal acceleration is constant at around 2000 RPMS and cruising around 80 on the highway, i do open it up sometimes off the line or on the high way, esp coming out of toll plazas legal 0-70 run

dont forget also R is my exclusive, esp in Super V8 form and comes with great options...maintenance is really the same except for brakes as noted above.

Brakes are different, a couple additional coolant hoses, two fuel pumps, additional belt for the supercharger and the supercharger. If any of them brake it's additional cost. All other maintenance is the same, but they don't drive the same!

We're in FL so no probs with winter driving. Not sure I'm into 35 series tires again-are they a softer ride than an M3?

And I'm not so sure I could resist the call of the blower....8 ')

Default In defense of the R

I have an 05 XJR and get 21 in the city and 26 on the highway. Brembos are easier to change the pads than the stock XJ. Major differnce is in the seating, the R seats are firmer. The thing to worry about is the CATS suspension and servicing that. Both XJ and R have it. My advice, get one with the extended warranty.
