XJ wiper replacement
#41
Gentlemen; I just joined this site, just for the reason of thanking you for all the help. My 2004 XJR has the wide insert blades and according to my dealer the only thing to be done is to replace the "wiper system" Yea Right. I just ordered the Bosch kit on eBay from the UK. $29 shipped to the US. As some of you have also attempted, to find them on this continent, I have also not been able to.
Thank You So much for the help

By the way, a set of inserts for these is very inexpensive. less than $10 2 x Wischergummis für BOSCH 3397007654 AR608S AEROTWIN Scheibenwischer 600/475 | eBay
It might be worth it to buy a spare set or two for the future. In this way they can be replaced every year or two the way they should be.

Thanks. I did the same thing. After not being able to find replacement cartridges with the spray nozzle, and seeing the cost of buying the replacement nozzle at about $20, I decided that all I really needed to do was remove the worn out blades and metal carriage and replace those. Purchased the same size blades and removed them from the carriage that they were in. Squeezing with a pliers on the end which has a small catch to lock them into the carriage gets them to slide right out. Did this on both the old carriage and the replacements. Then merely have to slide the new blade and metal carrier into the old carriage and put back onto the wiper arm. Hooked up the washer hose and voila, new wipers! Cheap and easy.

That's what I wanted to do also, but I couldn't. My OE wipers had the 12mm blades and even the inserts I got from Jaguar would not fit because they only have the 8mm ones. For the Thirty bucks including shipping it was worth the purchase from the UK. It was less than a five minute job to change them and they actually look better than the OE wipers.
