Default XJ6 Bluetooth Telephone problems and wing mirror

Hi All

I bought my first Jaguar 2005 XJ6 2.7TDVI Sovereign. I have always dreamed of owning a Jaguar and finally have now got one. I was all excited about getting it but now after only 2 weeks i have got problems already and am a bit disheartened.

My bluetooth telephone system worked after i finally connected it after a week but doesnt now. It made and received calls perfectly to start with.

I made and received calls and a day later I started getting problems with it. Quite frequently, when i press the telephone button it says function not available. I then leave the car switched off with my iphone bluetooth disconnected for around 15mins or so and and it reappears. But then when i connect my iphone again, the iphone says connected but the car hasnt. If i then switch the car off again for a while and then try to reconnect it it starts working for one call then fails again. It rings through the stereo but then when i answer i have to put the phone to my ear to accept the call.

The second problem I have is when i bought the car the wing mirrors folded in and out as they should but then the drivers side started getting stuck when reopening so I would have to press then the button 3 or 4 times to get the wing mirror back to the original opened position so it is obviously getting stuck somewhere.

Now it has got to the point where if i press the button it closes about 1CM and then reopens fully when the button is pressed again to open them. The passenger side works fine.

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE as I want to take pride in owning my Jagaur and feeling confident in it.

If anyone can help i would really appreciate it.

Many Thanks

Sukki,

I've moved this thread to the XJ ( X350 & X358 ) XJ6 / XJ8 / XJR 2003 - 2009 section where it should get a faster and wider response.

Looks like a good time for you to put a post in the Intro section to tell everyone a bit more about yourself and your vehicle.

For the Bluetooth problem you may need a software update for the bluetooth unit. Given the age of your car and the type of phone you are using the software in the bluetooth unit may need to be updated to work properly with your iPhone.

On your mirror my wife's VDP has the same issue with the driver's side mirror, but we have not had it repaired as yet. I'm thinking there must be a gear or cog that is broken worn that prevents the mirror from going in and out properly - but this is speculation on my part.

Unfortunately, sounds like both of these issues will require a dealer or competent Jaguar tech or mechanic.

GGG - Soryy for putting anything up in the intro, I forgot my manners for a moments as I was soo excited seeing all these threads and everyone helping one another so I thought about getting my problem resolved.

RSCULTHO - Thank you for that advice. Have you ever heard of this sort of blu tooth problem before with the Jags?? better see if I can find a Jaguar specialist around my area in Northampton.

The Intro was worth the wait.

Good info from recultho.

Jaguar Bluetooth isn't exactly cutting edge and many owners report problems getting it to sync and work. If you have an older Bluetooth enabled phone available, it's worth trying to sync that to check the vehicle equipment is working properly and then troubleshoot the compatability issues with the iPhone.

Have you visited the Jaguar UK Bluetooth Connectivity Centre to check specific compatability and connectivity procedure for your phone?

I have the exact same problem with my 05 VDP. Found a new Bluetooth module for a great price online and am gonna see if that fixes it. Will keep the group updated on success or failure.

Hey Guys

I think I have solved my problem with the bluetooth. i was looking on another thread about a s-type and gave it a try and it seems to have curred the problem for now.

Frequent Flyer - Try this - Disconnect the battery on the negative side over night and then make sure all the cables are plugged in the correct places behind the cd changer and dvd player. This can unscrewed from the body.

i did the wire check just before i reconnected the battery and it all seems to be working well. I will keep using the telephone more than i normally would for the nexxt few days to make it is not a temporay fix.

hope this works for you and ill keep you all updated on my situation.

Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks Sukki, will give it a try. But if it works then I have a brand new bluetooth module that I can use for a paper weight.

Sorry forgot to say I havent got the same problem yet. The telephone now doesnt disappear but doesnt connect properly. It connectd once and when the person on the other end answered i couldnt hear them thru the car or the phone. The other person did have the call come through tho.

I then disconnected the bluetooth from my phone and tried to reconnect but it wouldnt doo soo.

I left it for a while and it still didnt. Does this mean it is the bluetooth module or is there another problem??

Sukki, I just decided to start replacing old parts with new ones and started with the Bluetooth module. With my luck the phone problems are caused by the crack in the top of the coolant reservoir.

Sukki,

Once you've paired a phone, Jaguar Bluetooth always searches for that phone when the ignition in switched on. De-activating Bluetooth on your phone won't remove the pairing, it just won't connect. Activate Bluetooth again on your phone and the Jaguar system will find it again.

I think you need to cancel the pairing ##3#*# code and setup your phone again before assuming a fault with the vehicle hardware.

Note the instructions in the handbook about the time delay required when connecting / disconnecting / pairing.

Thanks for this information. Just recently the phone option has completely disappeared. It says this system does not have a phone fitted.

Now im really confused. Do you know a fix for this???

Open up contacts in your Neo, select a contact and send it via bluetooth. When you get the list of available devices, choose the car. When you select to send this to your car, you get to put in the passcode. Now they should be paired.
