XJ8 2009 - Vent select failure - all hot air on floorboard
Hello everyone.... I have an issue where all heat is blowing on the floorboard and no-longer can be controlled through the panel. The air is all hot regardless that I have lowered the dual temperature to the lowest setting. This happened when I selected defrost and now no air comes out of any of the vents except for the floorboard. The Ext sensor is reading weird and very low which is not accurate but I don't think this would disable the vent selection from working - or would it. All suggested is appreciated. Thanks!

As far as I know hot coolant runs through the heater maitrix continuously and when air con is switched on
the system blends hot and cold air also blend doors switch air from floor to face vents etc.
All this is done using seven motors fitted to both sides of the climate 'box'.
If one or more of these motors is not working you should be able to see which one by watching
the white levers attached to the motors.
The reading on the Ext temp is suspicious but I doubt it would affect the operation of the climate
system however I may be wrong.

Thanks meirion1! It doesn't seem like a do-it-yourself type fix unless your mechanically inclined. It all started when I switched from AC to heat to defrost my windshield real quick. It never recovered off that switch over from cool to heat. I have never had any issues with the car until now. It's black so when it's HOT it's really hot and burning up inside due to hot air rolling through even when the system is off. Errrrr...
