Default XJ8 Air Shocks

I have a 2007 XJ8 Vanden Plas with 46135 miles left front shock is leaking air and oil. Should I replace the one shock with an Arnott replace both front shocks with Arnott's or replace all front and rears with Strutmaster springs? The car is not a daily driver only driven 4100 miles in the last 5 years.
Thanks, W. Jones GA

Starting with both front shocks, with a rebuild, or replacement of the pump.
The rear shocks may last a good while yet, mine did.
Both of mine now have 4 new Arnots, & a compressor.

Thanks but not sure what you mean about a rebuild or pump replacement should I not get NEW ARNOTTS and the pump is fine at this point.

I think I now understand you mean replace both front shocks and rebuild or replace the pump but why it works perfectly?

Your call what to do & when.
But a leaking shock, puts a lot of extra work on the compressor.
A new piston ring, along with the cylinder.
If needed, will restore the pump to new performance.

My driver rear just started leaking so this post caught my eye. Are you doing work yourself??

Rears appear quite easy..not sure how complicated fronts are.

Arnotts avail on Rock auto for about as cheap as they get

Also pump rebuild does not seem too bad. Great video on it on YouTube. Search "To The Garage" and this entertaining Brit rebuilds his. He did though have a PITA issue with std but assume that is not the norm

Live in Raleigh NC by chance 😂 We could tackle as a team

Good luck!! Randy

Fronts are not bad at all, IF the lower torx bolt comes out.

I will have my local mechanic do the work I live in Suwanee, GA near Atlanta. It seems if I stay with air springs (shocks) Arnott is the best answer thanks for the info. on Rock Auto.

Fronts to me were easier than the rear. I had to buy a T60 bit that I'll never need again. Arnott supplies a replacement bolt with a hex head so you don't even re-use the T60 bolt. At the front, besides the strut bolts, you loosen the upper ball joint and the sway bar link. At the rear, the toe link and the sway bar link.

With a helper, the rears wouldn't have been so bad. Someone up top to guide the strut into the bolt holes that I can't see from underneath.
