XJ8 Floormats

RE: XJ8 Floormats
My dealer sells OEM's for about 70.00 for the fronts and probably about 50.00 for the rears. Personally every set of OEM's that I've ever had were allways fuzzy and crappy looking. I think that you can get a nicer and more durable set of direct replacement's aftermarket. http://www.autosportcatalog.com/index.cfm?sc=3364

jaguarmerriamparts.com, the Jag dealer in Merriam, Kansas, offers the original Jaguar-logo rubber mats with carpet heel inserts for bargain prices. They also discount price the lambswool carpets. No affiliation, typical disclaimers. I couldn't find the part numbers on their website so I just called them. Here are the part numbers and the current listed prices:
MAT-RUBBER (Jaguar Rubber Floor Mats, Black, Front): C2C7368 $59.61
MAT-RUBBER (Jaguar Rubber Floor Mats, Black, Rear): C2C7369 $18.93
These are heavy, high-quality OE Jaguar mats, so I consider them an amazing bargain by Jag standards. However, I do not know if they come in any color other than black....
Jaguar Merriam also sells the lambswool carpets at discounted prices, and if you're in the western states Gaudin Jaguar of Las Vegas does the same (shipping from Merriam, Kansas is cheaper for me in Tennessee).
Also check out the Carid website that XJL recommended in a recent thread on this same subject - those mats look beautiful also.
Cheers,
Don

The factory lambs wool is costly, wares poorly and difficult to clean. If you can find a high end carpet store check out their last years samples. They are free or up to fifty dollars each. The fit perfectly front and back just by turning them. I like Fabrica especial their far east patterns. They are the company that custom sculptures three dimensional carpet portraits for home and office.

I'm new today to this forum with a new addition to my rolling family in a 2000 Jaguar XK8. My hobby is all about improvement, customized, and doing it myself. So this may seem a little different than the typical purist view but here is how I get high quality floor mats. I either buy a few yards of the top quality carpet from online or sometimes use industrial fabrics, also bought online. Buy a roll of edge binding used to make area rugs. You can get it in several widths. Take it to your local bike night and look up the vender, always one there, that sews patches on leather jackets. as an example I had a set of three made for my Corvette that are gorgeous and here is the breakdown
3 yards Cashmere Black dense Jute back Carpet ------ $ 45.00
15 yard roll Edge binder, red nylon silk ---------------- $ 7.00
Cut the carpet using the originals as templates with razor
Sewing cost while i wait for 30 minutes with double
row black stitching ---------------------------------- $ 15.00
Total Cost ----- $67.00
