Not too difficult of a job, need to remove metal finishing piece to get access to tighten tighten nut.
Running video cable to center console takes more time.
One thing to realise is that +12V is coming to back up lights. What gets interrupted is ground connection through back ECM. I was getting, I think, higher resistance to GND. Did not spend time on that, just connected camera's +12V to back-up lights, always on, while key is in ACC or RUN, and cameras's GND to vehicle GND. This makes camera be on all the time while car is running. Adroid head unit, though, displays rear view only when gear is in R.
This set up gets rid of delay during camera power on!
I'm interested in this modification. Can someone post a photo of the installed camera from the rear of the car? These are always subject to the installer's personal taste.
Here is what I have done:
Camera I used was mentioned in one of my prior posts in the thread.
I made mistake not stidying what exactly I need to take apart. in my case camera is a little to left side. Not that it matters functionally; I just know it!
You may already know it: remove that horizontal chrome trim on the trunk lid. It has that trunk lid release buttin in it. It is held by few nuts M10 socket. Thing comes off.
ONLY THEN figure exact location where you want to drill hole! My camera has long threaded hollow post for wires. Doing it over again I would shorten that post, so I do not have to drill hole in aluminum to create releave for that post.
Here is the result: You can see the head unit is capable of displaying car's surroundings. I have not figured it out yet. It is, probably, an upcoming project after I replace CA's busings...
