Default XJ8 Road Trip

I didn't want to get a rental car to drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas so I decided to take the Jag. I don't like taking it long distances, but I wanted to go comfortably and in style. Luckily this past Tuesday I checked all fluids and found a leak at the bottom of the car. I realized it was transmission fluid and took it to get fixed right away. I got the car back on Friday morning just before my trip. It needed 6 quartz of transmission fluid and a transmission pan because the original one had cracks since it's made from plastic and not aluminum. With the Jag loaded and a full tank of gas I blasted to Vegas at 85 mph most of the way and reached there within 4 hours. I was surprised at how much fuel I still saved! I averaged 27.3 mpg and had about half a tank left. The car felt strong and smooth and had no problems there and back. What an amazing car! It's a 2004 with 88,000 miles on the meter and it felt good as new! There are 2 important messages here: 1. Always maintain your car and check for any problems. You may avoid a huge problem like I did. 2. There is nothing else like a Jag. Powerful engine, great fuel economy, comfort, and style.

@JagMan

Sound advice. I have started a ritual of pulling the car out of the garage in the morning then going back in to look at the garage floor. I spotted a coolant leak on my previous XJR this way, and also a transmission leak on my XJS, although with the XJS it's difficult to spot additional fluids on top of all the oil it leaks :-)

Agree completely about power and style. I don't think I could get 27MPG with the supercharger, but I've had 23~24 easily on a run before.

Default Tulsa to Denver

I just drove my oh five vdp about 725 miles and did it one day.
Awesome. 28.6 mpg uphill and into the wind, I think.
Spent a day cleaning and waxing when I got home.
I love it.
