XJ8 VDP 2007 replacement diff 'parts change'
Can't say I am too pleased that the diff is burned out at 68,000km but set that aside. The car has been off the road for two and a half weeks waiting for parts from England. I bought an extended warranty on the car. The replacement diff is covered but now the dealer tells me that there's a 'parts change' i.e. the new one is not the same design. As a result I need a new prop shaft, the existing one won't fit. That's a couple of grand, my treat. For a length of steel tube. The warranty company says that they have fixed the bit that failed and they don't pay for replacing parts that are perfectly good i.e. the old prop shaft. So my warranty leaves me with a car that is not drivable. The dealer maybe should have known that the prop shaft would not fit the new diff. Maybe they could have found a used diff. But if Jag has had to redesign it, did I really want one of the old ones? So I'm currently contemplating who do I sue?

Have you called Jaguar yet? I would tell my dealer, and the warranty company, that they have not "fixed" the bit that failed. They have given you a new part that does not fit your car. I find that if you can get your dealer on your side they can word things in such a way the warranty company will cover it. Remind your delear that you are the customer and have the potential to bring them more business in future if they step up and help you.
