XJ8L 2005 Limp Mode mystery! Can anyone figure this out?

XJ8L 2005 Limp Mode mystery! Can anyone figure this out?
On a 2005 XJ8L :
Car was in storage and battery was low due to a bad cell. Aside from battery issue, car was ran perfectly.
Since battery was low, it was jump started.
Since jump start, drive is in stuck in first gear only (limp mode). Can shift manually without problems.
No check engine light is on and no fault codes come up that aren't otherwise related to low voltage ( battery ).
ANY ideas on what could potentially cause the first gear only condition?
