From what I can tell looking at the pics, it is in pretty rough shape. Seeing it in person is a whole different thing. I see at least a couple grand worth of re-conditioning including a new steering wheel and headliner. In person these cars often look really beat and a complete reconditioning could be thousands of dollars. That's probably why the price is so low. There are plenty of used ones out there for not too much more money in significantly better condition. Well worth spending more for something you can be confident in. Just my 2 cents

Here's my take. It looks pretty good to me for an 81K mile vehicle. If everything works (and I do mean everything), the wheels are not chewed up and the general cosmetics are good then it's a fair price. More than fair actually.

Cosmetics can eat you alive to correct. Bad cosmetics equal a careless owner or two and no sale. Mechanical shortcomings can be dealt with if they aren't too serious and you can do a few mechanical chores yourself. More serious mechanical issues --- run, do not walk away.

Let us know how this develops. It's an interesting car for the money. If the car has been well cared for it's good for 200K miles.

You guys must have some high res computer screens. I sure can't see all the faults, including ride height, you are posting about. Jax, just go look at the car.

I agree, seeing it in person is everything. But in the pics I can see the hugh water stains on the headliner, the leather worn off of the steering wheel and as Alan pointed out, the tires are too far under the fenders. I have seen these cars as well as Rovers when the air suspension fails, they look "dropped".

According to the carfax it has had all the servicing done. I talked to dealer and they say the car is clean. The dealer will take $10,500 for it when I quoted them a price over the phone.

It is a great color, go look at it. These are the pics that concerned me:

Look at the rear wheels:

trunk liner pulled out

steering wheel leather worn

water stains on headliner

Look at steering wheel & seat/leather near seatbelt lock

I think the member known as "Adam78" has purchased this car, and is posting about it's nightmarish issues in threads abounding regarding tranny, suspension and more. I would consider myself fortunate if I were you right now, Jagxkrtoofast.

I recently bought a car, and it was almost immaculate. I paid a bit more than I had planned, but it has almost zero issues. I got them to do a complete brake job and an alignment, change the oil, etc. I have ZERO regrets right now. My advice: Wait, save, position yourself, make yourself be patient, until you are ready financially and a well-kept car comes to you. There will ALWAYS be another deal.

I passed on MANY cars, for over 2 YEARS. It was VERY DIFFICULT, but most worthwhile.

I think this is going to be my plan. I will keep driving my Mustang, and looking at the local Jaguar dealer to see if they have an XJ in the EXACT options that I want (2008+ Jaguar Vanden Plas or Super V8 with the warm climate package in black/black). If they ever have one, then I will check it out and if it's in great shape as it should be, I'll jump!

Otherwise I'll just pass.
